Fluoxetine and weight gain

I am 48 and been on fluoxetine for about 10 months. I have put on about 10 pounds since taking it. Do others have similar experiences? Can I come off rapidly or be sensible? Thanks.

Hi there I was in it And felt it was very weight neutral and actually lost weight. Lol

We are all different and maybe you felt better and therefore were eating more.

I think you need to be honest with yourself and see if you are eating more than

Before , if so the that woukd cause weight gain, are you excercising daily? Maybe

You need to look at your diet and see what you have been eating .

Then if you think you are eating the very same and if you want to lose weight, then

Keep a food journal for a week or two and it might surprise you to read what your

Consuming.

If you want to stop this Med. be guided by your Dr. As its not good to abruptly

Stop sny med. also are you feeling ok now ? maybe Dr. Will put you on something

Else.

Personally I think it's usually that people eat more when they begin to feel less

Depressed as before their appetite might not have been great.

Good luck with it anyway and have a word with Dr

.... Sensible.

Are you due a meds review?

Suddenly stopping if going to make you feel physically and mentally rubbish..

When low I am not hungry, I admit I do have to think twice about what I eat now, maybe because being a bit more relaxed I haven't worried as much about body issues..

I've found myself putting on lots of weight in the last year with fluoxetine is there any alternative from basic prozac

Yep Citalopram or Sertraline are alternatives. Not usually associated with weight gain but neither is Fluixetine. Apparently some people put on weight in any antidepressants. Do you feel well on Fluoxetine?
