Close your eyes.Imagine I have the power to take everything you hold dear away from you: Family, job or business, home... everything. And I do. All of it, everything, is gone.Would you beg and plead and offer me anything to get that life back? Would getting that life back mean everything to you? Would you realize that what you had is so much more important than what you didn't have?Would you realize that what I just took away was pretty freaking awesome? Of course you would. Now open your eyes. Literally... and figuratively.
I found this interesting, and rather true so thought I would share.
Love and hugs,

Hope all is good with you? X
Whats Linkedin? Sorry to be thick!
I don't hold anything dear Lush. So you can take everything away from me and I probably wouldn't even notice...

Hi
Yes, it is interesting - a bit like the thinking what would it be important to rescue in a fire, or what would you take with you if you had to live on a desert island, finding out what really matters most from all the things we DO have.
For me the question would be what would be the alternative, ie if you had the power to take my house away then obviously I might want it back simply because I would need somewhere to live! It's a difficult one, because things matter for so many reasons some of which are simply the practical realities of life. Even when I feel furious with my husband and feel as though I hate him and wish he was dead (metaphorically at least!) I am grateful that because he is alive I have enough money to have a nice computer to sit here and write on and that if he died financially my life would be a lot more difficult.
I guess you are saying that it's important to be able to THINK about what we do and don't have and what life would really be like if we had the things we think we want and lost the things we do have. We probably all dream about the ideal life, but what you have written reminds me that there isn't any such thing. We are alive and we have enough, otherwise we wouldn't be able to sit and write here, we would be starving, cold, walking the streets, etc. We ARE lucky for that.
At least we are all able to talk to one another about how things are for us, I wouldn't want that to be taken away.
That's really good. To adopt a much more positive outlook and be thankful for what we have. It would make us feel so much better to be able to do that. I will start trying to do that more often. Thanks for sharing.
hi I think you mean appreciate the things you do have and not worry about what you don't have. a bit like is your glass half empty or half full. I have always been my glass is half empty because I have had a bad life.
