I have been self harming for 6 years on and off. Luckily I don't cut deep enough to badly scar myself but I still do it. I haven't been diagnosed with depression as the last time I went to my doctors (about 2 years ago) all she did was give me a blog to go on for teenagers who feel low. Since then I have attempted and failed in committing suicide multiple times. My family don't know about the suicide attempts as they weren't in and each time I didn't take enough pills or chickened out. They found out I self harmed when I was about 14 (I'm now 19 in a week) but thought I had stopped when they found out.

I don't have any one to talk to properly and I do want help but my doctors are crap and don't help anyone properly.

What should I do???

hi crimson, try and see a different doctor - or even a nurse. My GP is c..p having worked my way through (several years) finally 3 weeks ago, saw a GP (for something else) and I actually liked her. I dealt with the problem I originally saw her for and going to see her again next week for my "real problems". Sometimes it's the person. Like anything you either take to them or not. I think (too early to say) I might actually confide more in this one.

It's just no getting help the first time I went makes me not want it in a way and make me thinks they not believe how bad I get sometimes because I can go on during the day but I break down at night when no ones around me and everyone's asleep. My mam has depression but I don't have a way to ask her which doctor she sees cos we don't talk about it.

If the last time you went to the doctors was two years ago, there's nothing to suggest that the one you saw at the time will even still be there. And if they are, their understanding of depression may well have developed. I would consider going back. It's a shame you can't talk to your mum. Can I ask why you don't feel able to?
