I'm due to have the REZUM procedure on my prostate. Anyone have experience of this?

REZUM
This has been mentioned on this forum before. You might like to do a search for that. I hope the procedure works well for you.
See 3 posts mentioning Rezum at healthunlocked.com/mensheal...
NB My dad has managed his BPH for ~14y using just Nutritional Therapy.
I was hoping I might get some accounts of what the procedure was like, recovery and prognosis.
I had the procedure earlier this year (after Urolift had failed to make a difference in 2021) it was a quite quick procedure. I had a catheter for a while afterwards and my follow up appointment was to remove it and conduct a flow test. The bottom line is that Rezum has made no difference at all to my symptoms. Someone who was in to have the procedure at the same time I kept in touch with who in his last message to me said:
"At my last appointment at Ottery (hospital) they were pleased with the flow and ultrasound showed that Rezum had shrunk the prostate enough for my bladder to completely empty. I was told it was a complete success and was discharged back to my GP"
So I might just be unlucky. If you use Google Scholar to look up Rezum the reseach papers do seem to paint a positive picture of the procedure. This is one of the many papers I have kept:

I have now managed to get a referral to Guys Hospital for Aquablation. Do contact me again if you need any more info 😎 Best wishes
Thank you FerdyOne, very helpful. Just waiting for a date at the moment.
Had Rezum done in May, 2017, at age 61. Got 7 steam shots, 3 left, 3 right, 1 in central lobe. It was 3 weeks until urination got back to where it was before procedure. It was 2 months before sex got back to normal and about the same amount of time for urination to reach a steady state, "okay" level. Flow and frequency were better than before Rezum, but not as good as I had hoped.
This "okay" condition lasted until 2023. Flow was slowing and I knew that something had to be done. As it turned out, much of the prostate had pushed up into the bladder, effectively blocking it. I considered another Rezum, but ended up getting an Aquablation in September 2023. My prostate was taken from 45cm3 to 15cm3.
Aquablation made an extreme improvement to my flow. It is the best it has been for 30 years. To me, Rezum is a "poke and hope" procedure. It fortunately provided some relief and bought me some time before Aquablation was developed. Aquablation involves a real-time scan of the prostate and strategic removal of material via waterjet.
If you have access to someone who does Aquablation, check it out. If not, good luck with the Rezum!
That's disappointing.
