Taking Co-Amoxiclav before self catheterisation.

I am concerned about getting resistance to this penicillin drug. I catheterise about once every two weeks to keep a stricture open. This is about as far as I can extend the period between doing it else if I leave it longer I can feel the stricture has advanced too much and I hear it 'snapping' open when the tube goes in. I have looked online to try to find an answer but no luck.

So because I frequently get UTI (if I don't take the drug despite being fastidious on procedure) I am compelled/advised to take a Co-Amoxiclav when I catheterise.

Any input on whether this frequency (once every two weeks) of taking Co-Amoxiclav will cause resistance in my body to this drug.

Thanks.

I gave up self catheterisation due to too many UTIs. Strictures are back it's a never ending cycle. Back to Urologist next week. Previously told urethoplasty next.

It's not your body that gets resistance to the drug - it's the bugs! With any luck, they'll all get killed off or die between doses.

I'm not a medic but if your medics are okay with you taking it, I don't think you need worry.
