I do a two week catheterise for a stricture I have post TURP (2019). Last time I did it there was some resistance to the Catheter going in and when I eased it past there was a pop sensation as it broke through. No blood though (not like when I had a bladder inspection when the scope broke the stricture open). The flow however seems still good (approx 15ml/sec). This 'pop' has not occurred before so seek advice. Perhaps I should cath more frequently if the stricture is growing. Thanks.

Stricture 'pops' when Catheterising.

It might be sensible to speak to your doctor about this.
Hi mate I would either catheterise more to keep stricture open more or check the size of your catheter with your doctor you might need a smaller size Good Luck
Thanks both. I remember when I had two unexplaind bleeds some time ago the hospital advice was 'it happens' when using a catheter. So the odd ocassion is probably seen as what it is an odd event. I will see if it happens again in couple of weeks. Feel its almost likely the stricture hardening and splitting. As there was no blood and the flow is good (I check that just before catheterising) not too worried. Just had a blood PSA and it was 1.6 so round about good for my age of 74 (I think!).
I did another cath last night and no restriction. I am finding though that flow is improving (getting faster) but on the other hand in recent months semen is being blocked. This is an added worry because a) it's painful for a while after and b) suggests the prostate is growing in a different way. The Drs do not seem to be bothered and even suggest there's nothing to be done about it. Is there a danger in the obvious pressure due to blocked semen channel? PS this has nothing to do with the tube from the testicles as I had a vasectomy 40 years ago (Googling always gets me stuff about sperm delivery when I put in "blocked semen"!). Thanks.
