I know how you feel. Try listening to Friendimacy / by Shasta Nelson on Audible, Google the Friendimacy triangle- Positivity, Consistency and Vulnerability. I had to learn how to be a friend instead of always being in crisis mode. I stumbled upon the book a few weeks ago. Hope this helps.
And I doubt COVID has helped any. It is hard to know what to say. You feel alone but you don’t want to meet new people. It is challenging to see a solution. Have you even spoken to a professional to discuss option?
You might want to try reading a book called "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. This book has been around for decades. There are even Dale Carnegie courses, but they are expensive, so I settled for the book.Reading is not enough; you have to do.
This really helped me when I was at a low point in my life in my mid 30s, due to depression.
My doctor prescribed an anti-depressant and got me some therapy. All of these actions helped me to start feeling normal (or close to it) for the first time in my life.
