Hard epididymis

Hi, just looking for some advice to see if anyone else has this same experience... I'm 43 years old and had vasectomy 3 years ago. I have had aching testicles intermittently since then and I do suspect a varicocele on the right side as I can feel a large collection of tubes/veins. But my main concern is my epididymis is quite easily felt when relaxed and is soft and 'plyable' to touch....but when ejaculating they are both rock hard lumps....is this normal, something to do with vasectomy?

After ejaculating they are back to soft when next checked hours later
