Thin Frenulum fears after brief steroid usage

Hello, I'm 22 in December I noticed a small nick on my frenulum and was told by a doctor to put steroid cream on it. I applied somewhat liberally for 5 days and then stopped, and afterwards noticed no pain but that my frenulum is much thinner now and I'm worried it's more much prone to to full tearing now that it was before. Although the doctor who prescribed it said the skin would grow back it hasn't, so I'm considering frenuloplasty/frenulectomy but am really scared. Does anyone have experience with these operations? or perhaps a thin frenulum that ended up not tearing? Also, for those who have had a frenulum removed or elongated, how has this impacted sex for you?

All insights are appreciated, this has taken a pretty serious mental toll on me.
