8 years post circumcission

Still getting bouts of Balanitis despite have the circumcission 8 yrs ago.

Only thing that gives any relief is the 1% hydrocortisone cream on prescription. Have tried lots of OTC stuff but nothing seems to work.

Getting an answer/solution from docs is a nightmare even if you can get in to see one.

Have seen the Hydrocortisone is available o the web but imported from USA, Anyone bought any ?

Also was pointed to something called Suragel. ANyone from here tried it?

I should have explained. I was undergoing some tests for waterworks trouble and needed to have surgery to take a biopsy. The surgeon on the day advised that while I was under she would carry out the circumcission as well as there is Balanitis and this would help.

The biospsy confirmed Balanitis and I was told it would clear. Looking at my old notes the copy I have is not too clear apart from something about DXO ?

As I said previously, my GP has given me Hydrocortisone 1%. A tube lasts me 2 yrs but Im looking at OTC alternatives until I see a GP in a couple of months

Im convinced my case is connected to the herpes virus as I used to get lots of painful cold sores

Hey man.

Maybe it’s not balanitis but BXO or lichen sclerosis.

Sometimes you don’t get the white plaques but you get the redness irritation and inflammation that could make you think you have balanitis whenever you don’t.

Also, I’m in the US and hydrocortisone 1% is over the counter here and it’s like $5. The only one that is under prescription is the 2.5% and all the steroid creams.

You should try some steroid creams to see if that helps better. Do some mometasone fuorate for 1 week twice a day and then decrease for another week and then as you get better you can only use it once every now and then as a maintenance therapy..
