Hi guys as all my other posts suggest I'm ending day four of my recovery, as I got up to go to the toilet I felt something pulling and noticed it was the stitches from the back pulling and it feels like I have to yank it off any surface which is painful ๐Ÿ˜•any suggestions? Should I go to my gp as it's so soon for this to be happening

When you say yank it off any surface what do you mean? The stitches tend to pull from day 1 to be honest, I guess it's such a hard place to repair, after all if it's an arm or leg you can keep it still, our knobs tend to have a mind of their own!! It's looking pretty good to be fair, just persevere with salt baths & ice applications. I'm having a nightmare with my own circumcision at the min, at least it's nice to know we're all able to advise each other ๐Ÿ‘

Like for example at the moment I can't wear underwear so when I lay down in bed naked I rest my penis on a nice soft cloth so it can just air dry, if I need to get up to go toilet for example it gets stuck to any surface it's on. And I have to pull it away big time and it kills! Esecpailly at the back

Ah right yeah I know what you mean, I've been using cut down babies wet wipes as a sort of insert in my dressing and as they are slightly moist they don't stick to the wound. I find it amazing how many posts I've seen where guys are talking about wanking after like a week or so! I'm 38 so maybe I'm just too old but I can't think of anything worse than attempting to knock one out whilst healing ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข

Are you still wrapping yours up? And nah I couldn't possibly think of that I can't touch it never mind beat it like

M4rr15 profile image

Occasionally I do, it just depends on how sensitive it feels, trouble is there is such mixed advice, some say air drying is best, others say wounds need moisture to heal & air drying dries it out too much, I'm basically doing what feels right & soothing at the time.

Like my step dad has been done and he's so against rewrapping it even though I feel putting some protection around the stitches whilst I go places would be beneficial?

M4rr15 profile image
M4rr15 in reply to Curlyboi1998

Yeah well it's each to their own really, sometimes it feels the right thing to do is wrap it, I don't properly dress it, just literally get some guaze and a bit of wet wipe and wrap it once, guarantee as soon as I do it I need a piss so I have to take it off again too. It's a bloody nightmare really.

I'm just shitting myself for whether the stitches will get caught in my underwear and keep tugging and stuff like

You'll be okay dude, plenty of painkillers & rest & nothing too strenuous. I snipped any really long stitches off with nail clippers as they feel like wire when the are dry!

They definitely are! But you can't dip the stitches in water can you I.e in the salt baths? So is it just moisturising?

Iโ€™ve seen lots of conflicting advice about all sorts of things to do with the circumcision healing but nothing that doesnโ€™t support keeping the wound dry. My specialist and all the nurses and doctors in the hospital and Gpโ€™s all stressed that it should be kept dry and it makes sense since bacteria and germs grow in moisture. They said itโ€™s OK to bath or shower but you need to dry it thoroughly afterwards fow which I use a hairdryer as itโ€™s non contact. Iโ€™m also using tena men pads in my underwear and wrapping my penis with a womans sani pad (get a thicker one) I know itโ€™s not very Macho but it seems to work very well at easing the pain of movement andthats all I care about, with the pads Iโ€™ve been out and about shopping and working in garden on week 1 without them I think I would have been stuck in bed all day & night. I hope that helps!

Yeah some people do one thing some do another it's not ideal as I'm still in two minds aha! Like I know I'm practically five days in so obviously it's the beginning of a long process as my gland has never been out before this etc!

Would you suggest wearing relatively tight underwear or more loose? Also where did you get the pads from? Many thanks

What I do when the wound sticks to my clothes (generally after a nights sleep) is I just pour a bit of water on it and it comes loose in no time .I remember reading about it somewhere and it works just fine for me .If you are able to fetch it warm water works even better I think

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

Hi there, I thought I'm not allowed to get the stitches wet or anything tho?

JD98 profile image
JD98 in reply to Curlyboi1998

No dude . Youre supposed to have a shower and stuff .so what I do after that if its in the morning is I immediately go have a shower .Its almost two weeks after nine now. The best way for the wound to heal is to keep it dry and clean . So I air dry it afterwards and then apply the antibiotic cream . I have two showers . One in the morning and in the evening .Has really helped my wound heal up quick .the bottom part was the last to heal up though . So just give it time while keeping it clean and dry

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

I cup my hand around the area whilst showering etc to avoid water hitting direct contact and stuff. And has your bottom part of the gland nearest to the stitching starting to swell down now? Mines super sore!!

JD98 profile image
JD98 in reply to Curlyboi1998

Mine glands never really were the prob after the surgery .I think my circumcision was the type where he removed a bit extra foreskin .I mean theres a tiny gap between the glands and the incision site .the thing with my frenulum was that from the first day itself when I took off the bandage it was bleeding .just a few drops . Then it happened again when I accidently pulled my penis when the frenelum(bottom part) was stuck to my shorts .so there was a small wound there and it hurt a lot and it took like 3 days for that to heal up .But its completely normal for the bottom half of the incision site to be swollen .as long as there isnt any sign of infection .By the look of ghings yours is one where they leave a bit extra skin . Hence it appears almost attached or is to the glands. No prob at all

Totally get what you're saying pal, I braved myself a few hours back and lobbed a men's tena pad in some briefs and tried to walk a little (although I looked ridiculous and took forever) it's not too bad, just not looking forward to taking them off aha

JD98 profile image
JD98 in reply to Curlyboi1998

Haha yeah i still walk around pretty weird lol .Its my 14th day here .I think its best to stay with no clothes on in your room if you can afford to haha .It heals the wound faster I think .anyways thats what worked for me

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

It feels beyond weird it's safe to say, and although I can at times be naked in my room and let it do its thing, I got to return to uni the Monday after next just wanted to try and brave it a tad like

JD98 profile image
JD98 in reply to Curlyboi1998

Haha yeah man I totally get it . I need to head back to uni this weekend as well . So Im a bit nervous about how Im going to stay in my jeans all day lmao

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

Like I know I need to be patient etc which obviously I get and tryna persist with it, just want to begin making baby steps, personally I won't wear jeans for a while as mine are like skin tight to me aha

So how are you now? After a year? I'm on my 10th day and glans and frenulum is still extremely sensitive. Involuntary erections hurt like hell when asleep. Also, shaft is swollen. Is this normal? I keep gauge pads one front and one at the back and wear my breifs on that so it stays upright. The gauge sticks at places of insicion. It hurts. Any advise? When will I be able to have sex again?

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to Xanimeguyx

Mate after 4 weeks it was totally bearable again and could move about and was back in uni etc. The sensitivity youโ€™ll personally just have to adjust too with underwear etc as the friction can only be adjusted too by doing so. However start using gauze like you do and slowly use less and less, personally I only used it around the incision line to avoid loose stitches picking at my underwear

Erections etc always occur and are extremely painful at first. From what I can remember the frequency and also pain was decreasing from about day 18

In terms of sex itโ€™s vastly different for every guy as we recover and go through different recovery processes. However, I personally waited for about 11 weeks from the op to be super safe and comfortable etc :)

Okay thanks for the reply this helps a lot actually! so let me ask you this...does circumcision really honestly affect the "pleasure" ? As we're cutting directly 2 Inches of skin and the gliding movement on glans. (Sorry to bother you)

JD98 profile image
JD98

When you shower dont apply soap and dont let water drop directly onto the wound .just let the water hit your belly and move onto the wound .

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

Does it look okay to you thus far though bro?

JD98 profile image
JD98 in reply to Curlyboi1998

It look perfectly fine . but Im not too sure about the bubbly stuff over your glands lol .you might wanna go to the doc and get it cleaned up .

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

Only now seeing this comment aha! The stuff that was on my gland was Vaseline, I reapply

It a few times a day as I am getting through the underwear with a pad stage like just sometimes like in that picture I put a tad too much on aha

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998

It was a necessary procedure because I suffered from extremely bad phimosis. But yeah definitely isn't a good thing nor ideal to recover from lmao

JD98 profile image
JD98

Theres a price to pay for every good thing . Mine was a severe case if phimosis too .Just keep in mind that it is only for a few weeks that you need to be very careful and suffer . Is the case with almost any surgery isnt ? Im in my 14th day and my erection dont pain at all .theres just a small feeling like its being stretched too much during erections but that is going to go away when the stitches fall off soon .Plus I gently masturbate with no prob at all on a daily basis now and the doc said my wound is all healed up when I wenf for the check up yesterday and that it was just the stitches that needed to fall off

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

Good to hear yours is progressing well after two weeks! With me it's just it gets caught onto everything, if I walked around with nothing on and let it dangle by the time I lift it up or something with my hand the stitch gets caught in my nuts etc

JD98 profile image
JD98

Dont you apply any cream on the wound ? I apply an antibiotic cream twice a day and Ive noticed that the stitches only get caught up in my pants when I don't apply the cream .the stitches feel like needles tbh

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

I put some form of cream on the gland, also Vaseline etc, they're lethal asf...! Afraid of going near the stitches as I am always prone to blacking out etc

JD98 profile image
JD98

I think its best if you ask your doc for an antibiotic cream too for the wound specifically

Curlyboi1998 profile image
Curlyboi1998 in reply to JD98

I may have too, do you put any form of cream directly onto the stitches?

JD98 profile image
JD98

Yup . The antibiotic cream . I Pretty much put it all around the wound .

My stiches came out on day 5 n my penis looks ugly im on 5th week now been told have to redo the circumcision so I suggest yu go back as soon as possible

I should have done perpetuioplasty...instead of full circumcision but my phimosis was so bad that we discussed the danger of paraphimosis in case of partial circumcision or perpetuioplasty. Now I am fully circumsized. What do you think? Will I permanently lose "pleasure"? (Of course I couldn't have sex before die to phimosis) but do you suppose I would be okay with cutting off just the tip of skin so as to be able to retract it?
