Day 11 circumcision - Black stitches looking thick

Hi all.

I’d appreciate some reassurance!

I’m on day 11 post op. There’s been no bleeding from the right side for several days, but the first week I suffered during the horror of nocturnal erections.

My doctor says the stitches look fine. But I’m concerned with how thick they look. Is it where they’ve previously soaked up blood?

(For note - the head is shiny because of Vaseline and theres no sign of infection).

It’s just occurred to me that I’ve possibly been very thick. The black mark round the incision line is the scab on the incision, right?

It’s previoisly been too swelled to notice!

Looks like I expected mine to. I'm still super swollen and bleeding (also around 11 day post-op).

I think you're right. It looks more like scab than stitches.

Hi WJKD, thanks for the quick response. I’m still experiencing bleeding on the left hand side which is frustrating!

I was in complete denial, expecting a near full recovery after ten days 😂

Is it a lot of blood? I completely empathise with the frustration - I was the same, fully expected to be basically back to normal by now. It's such a slow process!

It’s started to slow now, it’s always been in the morning.

The left side has been worse in this regard, but finally has a white layer forming over it (not pus, just part of the healing process).

If you go on my profile I posted a picture of the other side yesterday, so you can see as a point of comparison.

Hmmm. Definitely going back to the consultant. Mine is still so swollen I can't even see the stitch line.

Yours is looking in really good shape

Do you think? That is reassuring to hear! It’s so hard to tell.

Best of luck with yours!

I think so. :)

And yours!

It looks normal to me. Be sure you get them removed after two weeks. At that time they've done the job. If you let them in much longer, you've big chance to get ugly stitch tunnels.

Cheers Bucky!

think you just need to care for it and clean it every day, or two or three times a day,

warm salty water is good for wounds
