Stitches not out yet - Circumsision

Hi, I’m 18 days post op, one of my stitches came out 4 days ago however since then none of my other stitches have shown any sign of dissolving or falling out. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm on day 8 post circumcision so can't give you the benefit of any direct experience yet. However, my surgeon said at the time not to be surprised if some were still there and had not dissolved even by week 6 which seemed a bit extreme. He did say they would dissolve in water, not just because of the body's enzymes dissolving them, so I plan to try long warm baths from day 12-14 onwards to see if that helps. I gather the stitches should have done their job in the first two weeks. This is UK experience by the way. No idea if they all use the same materials as there are many different suture materials.

I had my dissolvable stitches removed on day 14 as they felt like cheese wire round my bellend! Nurse said that at 2 weeks they had done their job and could be removed. Thing improved so much quicker after the stitches had gone.

If they bother you get them removed.

I’m 3 months post op and my stitches started falling out about 5 days after but they weren’t all gone until about a month after the operation so I think it just varies from person to person.

What I found helps is if you have about a palmful of salt and put it into a hot bath and then just soak in there they fell out a bit faster.
