Circumcision
Without knowing the severity of your condition and the reason why this has been recommended to you I would strongly urge that you explore any other option than circumcision. I have spent the last 30 years regretting the considerable loss of sensation as a result of losing my foreskin and having difficulty maintaining an erection during sex as a result of the lack of feeling. Perhaps if it's severe you could ask about a partial solution that alleviates the problem but keeps the foreskin?
Here's a standard leaflet

You can also search and see the comments of others on this site
Steroid cream is worth trying if you haven't already as this may enable the foreskin to retract with gentle stretching
Hi
As Pagey and Goldfish says I would ask is there any alternative to surgery. Possible steroid creams or a partial circumcision.
If there is no alternative I can tell you my Op was quick and successful. I had general anaesthetic woke up with little pain but feeling ill. Yes the area was very painful after the anaesthetic wore off and can still be quite sore weeks later. My Surgeon tells me that is normal and will improve.
Would I have had the Op if there was an alternative, no. But in my case there wasn't one. But do not worry unduly, if it is something that has to be done, the alternatives could be worse ! You will recover and sex will be different but still very possible. I find orgasm to be all around the 'head' and very intense. Yes sometimes I struggle to maintain an erection, but I think this is due to me not knowing what technique to use when masturbating. With a foreskin a quick 'tug' usually got me going again but now I am a lot more gentle as I am worried about pulling the scar.
Take your time post Op to recover, I was six weeks before sex but everyone is different.
Good Luck, try not to worry.
Hi there,
as others have said, there are many options short of surgery. Check out the information here:

There are also a lot of posts on similar topics on this forum so have a good look round. Good luck.

Hi KRS17 . A pat on the back for you for over coming your embarrassment and seeking medical advice. Your doing the right thing by getting circumcised. Before you sign the consent form your surgeon should explain the procedure. There are several styles of cut high low loose or tight. It's not hard to see examples of these on the web. Discuss your preferred style with your surgeon. He will also advise you on healing and hygiene post op. Paracetamol will be sufficient for any discomfort after the op.
All the best and hope it all goes well for you
