3 weeks post op ANOTHER infection.

hi guys, I’m now 3 weeks post op, I’m on my 3rd lot of antibiotics as the incision area behind the frenulum is now all infected. Did anyone else have issues with numerous infections after there op? Really knocking me down!

Are you keeping hygiene and applying antibiotic ointment properly? If you are getting infected too often, there may be internal issue with your immune system. Try getting a lab test if your doc prescribe

Yes cleaning twice a day with warm salt water & drying thorough. Was never prescribed ointment to use. Just told to keep it clean.

Well idk about nhs as I am from India. Although, I strongly suggest to visit a good urologist. If you keep getting frequent infections, it will delay your healing.

The doctor said that’s the next stage. They sent a sample off for testing also.

they have been very good when I’ve contacted them they usually have me in within the hour. I was worried because the hospital discharged me straight back to the GP after the surgery, I’ve seen a lot of people having follow ups with the surgeon but wasn’t the case for me.

The fact that they've sent off a sample should determine exactly what strain of bacteria is causing the infection. It could be that the antibiotics you've had weren't suitable for that strain so didn't kill it off.

I’ve not heard anything back yet, it’s been over 48hours now I’m not sure how quick they are with it! I’m currently on 500mg Flucloxacillin for 7 days

How fast varies in different health board areas but hopefully the antibiotic you're on will shift it. That's the only one that put a stop to my mate's infection

This is in line with the desire of the medical profession to cut down on antibiotic use unless actually needed. If you are prone to infections, rather than just using antibiotics it might make sense to find out why that is happening. I have a T-cell leukaemia so know that I should take an antibiotic or an antiviral - if needed!

Use coconut oil it will heal soon.I have the same problem my frenulum is infected so badly. I had a white puff clot in my frenulum.

I'm also 3 week on post op.

Sleep naked during night

And apply coconut oil daily night it'll heal within 3 days.

I had my first surgery a year ago. Two weeks after, I got a nasty infection that sent me to the hospital for four days. Since then, I have had almost monthly infections. I had my third surgery last Friday to clean out the infection. It's not hygiene. I have diabetes and other autoimmune issues. It has been a year of hell. Good luck.
