Stitches and wounds

Hello everyone, sorry again for one more post (12 days post op)

Swelling on the head has reduced, movement is less restrictive and I feel better than when the process first began. Night erections are now uncomfortable but don't exactly hurt. Some of the stitches unfortunately got pulled out of the gauze after every night but those areas seem to be fine as the skin looks attached to the penis head properly but still too early to tell I think, I have a lot of stitches left.

Q1) Some of the stitches are now sharp and are basically pointing up, this leads to it catching in the threads of my gauze, underwear, shorts etc. and it causes some pain when it gets pulled. I'm cutting the size of the stitches when possible but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue of short, hard and sharp stitches sticking out and what they did.

Q2) I've been reading online and some people say to remove the stitches by 10-14 days post op..... They say it can cause stitch tunnels although I don't really know what that means but it's gotten me a little worried, doctor says 2-4 weeks for the stitches to dissolve but has anyone else maybe got a little more info about the stitch tunnels thing and if it's a common thing with circumcision stitches?

Q3) I've got one wound area at the base of my head below the frenulum, it causes bleeding in the first week post op but now there seems to be a black scab looking thing which has hardened after I go to touch it, if anyone else has faced something similar, should I be trying to remove the black scab at the bottom of my head or just leave it be? Little nervous about if I can catch an infection through that.

As always thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, really means a lot when I get to hear from others about their experiences. Any advice, tips, experiences are more than welcome.

Hey there, hope you're getting on well and keep those questions coming. I've added answers based on my own experiences of healing over the past 3 months.

Q1) Stitches sticking up and catching - I had the same thing until about week 5 when the last stubborn stitch fell out. I just coated they with Vaseline to stop them rubbing and catching. I stopped with Vaseline a couple weeks back, now at 3 months healed it's all feeling more normal... well, new normal.

Q2) My stitches were still hanging about until week 5 and my doc said to just leave them alone and not pull on them or anything, so I followed the advice. I did have some small hole-like marks left in my skin where they fell out that I thought were stitch tunnels, but were just little scars forming where they were. At 3 months I don't have any of those 'hole scars' left and they seem to have sorted themselves out.

Q3) I had a scab on my frenulum too - perfectly normal - and a small black hard scab next to it which fell off with my first really powerful boner. It was just a bit of stuck on congealed blood and vaseline. I found more and more that if I just left stuff alone - dry skin, scabs, etc - that it all resolved over time. Salt washes were also really good for removing dry skin and some random white stitch material on my frenulum that popped out randomly in week 10.

Always reach out here with questions, if by sharing our experiences we can offer some reassurance then it's all worth it.

Tom.

It's not an easy run at all to heal from this operation at all. I massively underestimated it. But yeah, it really is a waiting game. My best bit of advice... don't stare at it, don't fiddle too much with it.
