My circumcision story | from painful operation to slow healing

Hi everyone,

As I wrap up my 1 month of operation and I’m feeling much better now, I want to share my story with you, as this site helped me a lot during this difficult time.

Pre Operation

I’m 25 years old and I had phimosis. I never saw my penis head, it was infecting time to time as it was very hard to properly clean. I never had sex and been in a relationship, and I think it was because of my issue, I was not feeling confident deep inside my heart (even though I was trying to convince me that I’m OK). I tried different methods to fix it, but it was very serious state and when I went to a doctor I knew the only option is operation. We did some tests and scheduled operation on Saturday early morning.

The operation

In Armenia circumcision is done only with local anesthesia. Doctor injected anesthesia in 2-3 places, which was a little painful, but after that I did not feel anything. I haven’t looked down, as I was afraid I might pass out of what I see. After about 30 minutes doctor said that now he is going to put stitches and that’s where nightmares started. I have a high blood pressure when I’m stressing out and because of that anesthetic are not working very well on me, dentist visits are always a struggle for me.

Every time he was putting a stitch, I was feeling the needle and great pain. Doctor injected one more anesthetic, after which couple of stitches were OK, then hell started again, and he injected one more, and again and again. In 30 minutes he applied 7 anesthetic injections, and for me it was still painful. And then finally it was over. Whole operation bed was wet as pool, because I was sweating so much.

Before the operation we discussed with him to do a partial circumcision, as I only wanted to fix my phimosis and he did exactly that: almost 60% of the head was still covered with foreskin after operation.

After operation

The struggles returned next day As my penis is very small (yeah, I have all problems at once to feel like shit men), the dressing was not staying in place and was getting wet each time I pee. Doctor instructed to change dressing everyday, but I was doing it 3-4 times a day and each time was a hell. Because of partial circumcision, I was not seeing stitch line to properly clean it, I was trying my best to pull the skin back and apply anti-infection cream that doctor prescribed. I had check-up visit after one week, and he said that some parts are infected, that’s why it is not healing and is hurting. First two weeks were like this, and then on week 3 it got so much better, most of the stitches fall off, incision line mostly healed, swelling went down a lot, I started to go to Gym again.

I had my 1 month checkup with doctor yesterday. He said that everything is very good and is fully healed. He removed last 4-5 stitches that was still in place. He said that there is still some swelling that will go away and the skin will feel much flexible.

I even masturbated recently and It went very good (I approached it very gentle and slow).

The only discomfort I have now is super sensitivity, which is not an issue for 95% of the time, as most of the head is covered with skin.

That’s my story, I wanted to write it somewhere or talk to someone and now I feel relieved.

Hello Garik. What a great write-up. Thank you for taking time to explain your journey. It sounds similar to me - except I didn't suffer pain with being stitched. I'm 4 months now and the sensitivity is almost gone. It takes longer with guys who have had phimosis as the head has to get used to being exposed. Good luck with your recovery man!

It soon comes right. One day it might look and feel a mess but it is surprising how quick it sorts itself out. That was my experience anyway.

At 7 weeks now, I have to constantly remind myself of how far the healing has come. It looked like a dog's chew toy when I took the bandages off for the first time, and now it looks like a clean and circumcised penis. I'm still a ways off feeling 100% with minor swelling round the frenulum, and sensitivity (which is fading daily), but it's amazing how far I've come in 7 weeks. I think I'm healing slower than the manuals state, but it'll all come good.
