Are we talking sensitivity on your glans? If so, it really depends how long your skin will adjust to the new situation. Everyone will be different, especially if they have pre-existing conditions. Prior to the op the glans was covered in a "a mucous membrane" now it's no longer self-lubricating and has no protective cover. My surgeon in my first consult told me to use vaseline on the tip of my penis post op. It took me a while to work out what he was on about. I just thought what a bloody mess that will make in my trunks! Did your surgeon suggest vaseline or some equivalent for this issue? Sudocrem seems to be another recommended product. You should check with your surgeon in the first instance if nothing was recommended to you.
I've also read that synthetic/microfibre/sheer pants can reduce friction too in the months after surgery. Seamless pants are ideal and will cause less irritation to the glans.
From previous posts here some men adjust quickly whereas others have sensitivity issues for a long period after their surgery. Avoiding tight trousers/shorts and wearing pants that reduce friction can help the glans skin adapt in the longterm.
Best of luck with your recovery!
It's the worst part man specially if your glans wasn't exposed before.
It will take few more weeks to months to get keratinized.
Till the wound heals, use a gauze and a piece of cotton to wrap it up. Use antibiotic ointment as prescribed and make sure to avoid Erection for few weeks.
Once your wound heals you can do the following ::
Here are few tips to reduce it-
Dip it in warm water, try to pour water on it slowly and then from a height till the point it doesn't hurt.
Try to touch it more, ofcourse it will hurt initially so you can use coconut oil and massage it slightly for 20-30 mins twice daily.
If possible, leave it open and stay naked and air it out. You can use blower/dryer as well.
Take vitamin e and B complex supplements.
Alternatively, you can use a cotton cap and gauze and tape it up before wearing underwear. It will minimize discomfort.
Use lignocaine spray, it will numb it for few hours.
The dryer it gets, the less sensitive it becomes.
I know its a very difficult phase, even I am facing this but it's getting better.
It takes quite a lot of time and you have to remain patient.
As others have said, it is normal I'm afraid and we all heal at different rates. The numbing gels or 'delay spray' may help relieve some pain. Then start with bio oil and move onto coconut oil then butter as required.
Keeping your Penis still will help, use non stick gauze and tight pants to reduce movement. Then slowly introduce gentle touch.
Good luck
It took me three months but I just went through the discomfort. Went back to work 10 days later wearing speedo type underwear and used numbing spray. Stopped that at two months and now at five months I hardly notice it. All the above methods work, you just have to find what’s best for you.
Thanks for sharing your aoproach.Did you find the numbing spray had any long term consequences on "good" sensitivity? I'm asking in advance as most of us would ideally want two things from the glans post surgery:
1) low sensitivity from the daily friction of movement and
2) optimum sensitivity during erections.
It's obvious vaseline is not going to cut it for everyone under daily friction and I understand sensitivity during erections post surgery can also vary.
