Day 4 Post op after circumcision, can anyone give me some advice.. Im 25 and was circumcised due to phimosis which prevented me from pulling back my foreskin at all, but the head of my penis is HYPER sensitive and is at the point where it is unbearable!! I know its still very early in the healing process but i cannot wear underwear or even go to sleep without having my penis wrapped up in some gauze or toilet paper! is it ok to keep it covered up or should it be open? any advice welcome, thanks!!

It's no problem having your penis wrapped up in gauze the first days or even weeks after a circumcision. I did it too. Eventually the glans gets used to being always exposed and its skin dries out a bit resulting in less over-sensitivity. Everything will be fine in a few weeks!
thanks! ive just read so much about other people still having a hyper sensitive penis up until even months after the op and was starting to worry a bit. feeling like itll feel lile this forever! have you got any other advice at all?
how long was it until you had to stop covering up your penis? i understand everyones healing process will be different but i feel like im losing my mind a bit!
It's already been five years ago but if I recall I did it a few weeks. I know how you feel now, but don't worry it's gonna be fine. After a few weeks it's all behind you.
Hey guys. I know it is a Year old but i have this now. I went to work for the first time today and i used gauze. It worked well but it did get stuck to the penis every time. Did you guys have that? Any solutions? Did any of you guys try toilet paper? Is that recommended?
I just recently got circumcised 4 days ago and have been struggling with the sensitivity when the head touches any thing it’s kinda like a ripping feeling and is very hard to do day to day stuff
I know the feeling. Try wearing baggy pants and loose boxer underwear combined with the lubricated condom. It works great. Also what I notice is taking a shower makes it more sensitive. Do you notice this as well?
All normal I'm afraid. Use padding with vaseline or non stick dressing to keep it still, that will help, especially at night. Also wear tight fitting pants to keep things still.
At home during the day I would wear my wife's soft dressing gown with nothing underneath. It let air around the wound and did not hurt so much.
It probably just from your Op'. Take a short, shallow, warm salt bath and give it a swish around. This should help with cleaning and the healing process.
Try the salt water rinse and pull the skin back very gently and just a little at first. If you want you could do this by putting your Penis in a large mug or jug to rinse it.
yeah will have to keep the gauze over it for just now and probably the coming days/week as i can barely move other wise! have you got any other advice about anything from your experience? any advice at all will be helpful!!
I was cut for recurrent balanitis rather than phimosis, so I wasn't nearly as sensitive as you were to start. That said, I kept tissue wrapped around my glans for about 3 weeks as I adjusted.
My urologist strongly advised keeping the healing incision clear of all salves and ointments - no vasoline; no Neosporin - he was pretty definitive that it would heal best and most quickly if I was able to leave the incision uncovered/loosely covered.
I couldn’t even move after mine. I’m on week 3 and my trick was wearing really tight underwear so there was no chance of it moving. I fainted the first time I took off the bandages because it was so sensitive I kept reading the tight underwear trick but didn’t believe it because whenever it just taps against anything I would get pain. I pushed through the initial 3 seconds of sensitivity to put on the underwear but once it was on I was able to actually move around a bit more to a point I forgot I was circumcised over the next week going pee and stuff would just take a minute longer than normal to readjust everything but now week 3 it’s pretty fine and the head is just a thing that feels more bruised than sensitive but it’s going away faster than I thought (I had phimosis so my head never had been revealed until then so it was extremely sensitive at first then started to peel and dry up and now it’s stopped peeling and it’s bareable) what you have to look forward to is keeping an ice pack on the swelling so it doesn’t swell too much then the stitches(they’re a bitch around the two week point)
thanks for sharing that gives me a bit of reassurance! im a bit similar to you the slightest knock and the pain is crazy! good to know there is light at the end of the tunnel because this first week has been a bit mad
Hey I got mine this past Wednesday from the same condition, The initial surgery wasn’t bad at all because I was knocked out and the pain meds work. Although the following day when it came to using the bathroom for the first time it was a bit tricky and kind of scary because you will see bits of blood but it’s nothing life-threatening and you should have a dressing around it and your hair will be very sensitive. I’m just keeping mines wrapped w/ the bandages an put antibacterial ointment or Vaseline on it to keep it from sticking to the incision area.
Thanks for sharing, currently worried about mine as I can only sit on a chair with my penis hanging not touching anything. The sensitivity makes me want to pass out. I will try the tight underwear.
Same here man.. I had mine removed 3 days ago also due to phimosis. Still covered with a dressing and I stress to remove it as the glance will be more exposed. I cant touch the glance. Will the sensitivity go away itself or must you touch it/wear clothes to get it less sensitive? Would appreciate any feedback.
I'm going to be straight to point don't wrap it up causes heat that causes moisture that causes bacteria that could cause infections which are worse best is sit if possible nude and hang it out and ye I would use something on the bellend like bio oil or coconut oil not vaseline as greasy also if poss wear loose joggers for few weeks no underwear and let it do its healing I was the same and deffo best i wasted time wrapping up then got infected and omg was a nightmare went nudist for a few weeks in house and sorted as your bellend is no fully exposed just don't open the door to post man lol.also sleep naked is best at all times even when healed as you get hard through the night nothing to restrict it then you don't wake up and less feeling sensitive on head against underwear etc shorts are good light ones football sports ones best only thing if out and about free balling you will probably see the tool I'm past caring nowadays heard it all fae mates like oh your a big lad etc it's your dick make sure hes happy good luck but less cover is better
thanks! will maybe have to look into getting coconut oil as it seems better than vaseline according to some other posts on here! how did you know it was infected?? and at what point did this happen? that is the last thing i want to happen as healing process over this first week seems to be going fine, well looks to be going fine anyway!
I had been wrapping my dick up and didn't crust scab at cut scar and became red and then slight infection also was washing the cut to much as well it should dry out and heal natural that's why nowadays they advise no cover just wear loose football shorts and no underwear when you can if you cant hang out naked if offends others lol good luck m8
It’s normal mate , I was like you and I wrapped my penis with gauze for nearly a month until I was comfortable . Initially tighter and then later loosely wrap it. It’s also normal to be expected yellow haemosangiuness discharge , but please make sure that you keep your hygiene ! The sensitivity goes away with time trust me ! You’ll feel normal in no time !
Hey there! I did my circumcision just yesterday and, I just wanna remove my penis just to avoid the sensitive feeling of it, and the feeling is at least 8/10, I really hope it gets better everyday
Bro I'm sorry to hear that. Please can I ask you to keep my updated on your recovery and the pain and sensitivity? I think I need to get it done but really terrified
yeah have been washing 3 times a day with salty water, once in morning once in the afternoon them once at night! will look into getting some coconut oil today
1 week ago today the operation was and i feel brilliant. walking around with no bandages on! what a difference a couple of days can make its unbelievable. thanks for all the advice!!
It's been about 3 months since my surgery and it's still sensitive but it does get better. I was walking like a penguin for quite sometime lol Wrapping it up is ok a for the first few days but you need to allow it to breathe and get used to being exposed. The more you wrap it to avoid the sensitivity the more sensitive its gonna be. What worked wonders for me is I would put petroleum jelly all over the penis head few times a day. This helped me get used to having something on it, helped get used to the sensation of touching on it and it wouldn't allow my underwear or clothes to get stuck to it.
it been a three weeks after stapler circumcision, but still staples didn't falls, i think surgeon is only going to remove the same. i am also walking like a penguin when anyone see me and ask what happens and i said little pain in knee.. lol
The glans does not need to be kept moist, and there is no science to back that up. It also adjusts to contact with clothing once it's been exposed by circumcision, or keeping the foreskin retracted some of the time. The change in the surface of the glans helps it overcome extreme sensitivity, thus allowing orgasms to be delayed and to longer.
Hey there man. I just wanna ask, 8 months after the surgery how does your penis feel? I have the exact same problem with you and I am using gauze 3 weeks now after surgery. Is it that sensitive now? Any advice/tips? Thanks
Hi , thanks for sharing. This is an older thread but I am where you were a year ago.. I'm three weeks in after circumcision for phimosis. The head had never been exposed, it was barely visible below the foreskin. The head is still sensitive and erections hurt. please let me know whether the sensitivity has reduced after a year. Does sex/ masturbation hurt?
I currently have the same issue. I have phimosis and balanitis. I was never able to pull my foreskin over the head and it got infected for the first time. My urologist recommended I get a circumcision and he told me it’d heal after about 2-3 weeks but seeing your response is just making me more nervous to go through with it. After 3 weeks is it still extremely sensitive to where it’s difficult to walk? With my current infection it stings even with the slightest touch of my boxers, making it super hard to walk and I feel like it’s just gonna be 10 times more painful and sensitive post-circumcision.
Hi babyblue1 , Im 31 yr old. After being comfortable with my penis my whole life, I had to make a decision to undergo circumcision. Even the sight of needle piercing the skin makes me squeamish. But on the day of the surgery I underwent the procedure in local anesthetic. I was awake though out the procedure, playing candy crush on my phone. It did not pain even after circumcision, the doctor had pretty much given me all the meds I needed. Even meds to prevent unintended erections at night. I sleep on my tummy so I kept pillows around me at night to prevent myself from turning over. I took bath on the 3rd day for the dressing to fall off. The stitches fell off within the first 5 days. There was a mild discomfort when the penis touched the fabric of my underwear (I had purchased super comfy pack of cotton undies) but its not at all hurtful in any way. I made and continue to make a soft sterile cotton abdominal guard of sorts that I wear inside the underwear everyday. There is sensitivity but not like you imagine it to be. You'll be able to walk around normally like nothing happened. It would be a big relief to you in your case.
Ok that’s a bit more relieving to hear. I’m currently 23 and I’ve never had an issue with my penis until now (other than not being able to pull my foreskin all the way back). When did you feel you were ready to do everyday activities again after the surgery? Any tips or things to be aware of before, during, or after the surgery? Anything helps as I’m going into this pretty blindly
Due to the ongoing pandemic I had a work from home option and I was pretty much back on my job the very next day since it did not involve moving around much. It is usually recommended that you avoid doing any job that requires physical activity atleast for about two days after the procedure. Driving should be fine but using public transport might be difficult in first 3 days. Again this is manageable, the penis will be wrapped in dressing.
From personal experience I would say:
1. Discuss the procedure with your dotor. I didn't discuss because I was squeamish, a total whus. Discuss the type of cut, the amount of skin they will remove and meds, time for recovery. If you opt to undergo the procedure under general anaesthetic you'll have to get admitted the night before the procedure and will have to be accompanied by a friend or family member. You'll be under observation for an hour or so after the procedure. You'll be discharged on the same day. Friend/Fam will have to drive you back home from the hospital. I underwent the procedure under local anaesthetic. They administer the anesthetic to the area right above the base of the penis and it's painful but the area immediately becomes numb. They had a screen in between so that I wouldn't see the procedure. I didn't feel a thing. The doc asked me to download games/listen to music anything to divert my mind. I recommend general anaesthetic.
2. Shave the area clean. I used a trimmer. Be careful though. If you haven't used hair removal creams before I don't recommend you experiment with them before the procedure. Discuss the dressing around the penis. Request them to apply antiseptic/numbing cream before they wrap up the penis in gauze. This would make it easier to remove it later. Ask the Doc to recommend antiseptic powder for the inner thigh / groin area, you'll need it in the comming days.
3. For the first bath after the procedure. I had mine two days after the procedure. I recommend a shower. In my case they had wrapped my penis with gauze and surgical tape. If this is the same way they do it for you. Get the dressing wet during the shower and take time to remove it slowly layer by layer. This takes time, I put a plastic stool in the bath to sit under the shower. Slowly remove one cotton layer at a time. Removing the last layer will be slightly painful as the cotton would have stuck to the head of the penis. The Slow shower helps here.
4. The head of the penis will be very comfortable with cotton. After the first bath, I would suggest you dry yourself up completely before you apply ointments/ dressing around the penis. I would usually stand naked under the cieling fan in my room to dry myself up and bascially air dry myself.
5. In my case the doctor said I wouldn't have to go the hospital for the second dressing and I'll have to do it on my own. If it's the same for you, try not to wrap up the penis in cotton like before. Removing it will be slightly painful. Just make a Cotton shield for your penis and wear it in your undies.
6. Your pee might smell different for a couple of days after the procedure, this is totally normal, it's because of the meds. Nothing to worry.
7. Your regular cotton undies will do fine. No need to stock up on new ones.
8. Stock up on groceries, vitamin C rich fruits, bone broth (foods that help the body heal faster) and everything else you need so that you can avoid going to the store.
9. Plan the day of your procedure. Example if it's on a Wednesday, you can take the next two days off from work and you'll have 4 days of leave. Also you'll have to take up blood tests before the day of the procedure, again check with your doctor.
10. In my country the doctor prescribes the meds too.. The doctor had only prescribed meds for me and not cotton rolls. I had to buy them separately. Request your doctor to include them in the prescription if possible. This would help you later save money when you claim insurance I suppose. I am not sure of health insurance in your country and whether it covers the procedure. You can discuss this too with your doctor/concerned hospital representative.
And don't worry about how your penis will look after the procedure. I feel like a spartan every time I look at mine.
I'll add to this comment if I think of anything else.
Yeah I figured it’s best to do it now and get it over with while the whole world is pretty much on lockdown. I still have to go to work though, and I walk a lot on the job so I’m most nervous about that. But thank you so much for the info, it’s all very helpful and I’ll definitely keep y’all posted!
Babyblue1. i have 100% same problem as yours. Each and every words same problem to me also. I had done ZSR circumcision before 11 days ago. hyper Glance sensitivity is killing me. Can't even wear loose or tight underwear.
So till date from operation date i never wear anything. Sleeping naked day and night in private room. Never gone out of my room. And currently also doing same even it's 12 th day. My mind all time says you have to live with hyper sensitivity of glance. I am so worried. I just do loose gauze 2 times a day. If urine then i urgently change gauze Sometimes 4 times i do change my gauze. Taking super care of hygiene. Medicines on time. Glance cream first 5 days used then after doctor told me to stop using and keep glance dry which will help loose hypersensitivity. Do i did stop using glance cream after 5 days. I was using glance cream 4 times a day. On day 6 my glance skin started drying after i stoped using glance skin and as skin try it start peeling automatically. I was penis with mild hot water with mixing of little bit drops of savlon. Dettol i not use, as doctor strictly said not to use. Currently feeling like 10% or less glance sensitivity gone. But i am wearing gauze loose so it help little bit to walk in loose night track pant. I don't think without gauze i can even walk a step. So very very big tension feeling nowadays and worried about , what if my hyper sensitivity will be like in future and forever. Friends please help.
I just got the surgery today, about 8 hours ago. I ate and slept right after, now I’m just laying down and relaxing. I’m taking the meds they gave me and don’t feel much pain unless I move (because it’s still slightly bleeding) or if I get an erection. Every time I nod off to sleep I wake up because of the pain from an erection, but it quickly goes away. I’m not sure what to expect after I take the bandages off but I’m optimistic and hoping for the best. Does it hurt when you pee? I read it shouldn’t but that’s my biggest fear right now
Bro, first 2 times pee will be only little hard but after that it will be smooth. Just drink as much water as you can. Take medicines on time. If a lot of pain then take pain killer medicine. First 2 days it will be little hard but don't take any tensions it will be smooth day by day. The one thing you must take care is, you should control on erection because it's painful when you get erected. Do read religious books, watch pranks on YouTube which will keep your mind fresh and you will have no pain. Take care hygiene very much especially after pee. Don't let your sterile gauze wet. If wet change it immediately and gently. No forcing. I sleep naked because it feel good. I hope you get some help from sleeping naked. Currently i am on day 14. I had done ZSR CIRCUMCISION which is stichless. It's like staple pin with silicon ring system. One more thing do take care of any infections. You will heal fast if you protect from infections.
Yeah I’ve only gotten slight erections a couple of times and they go away pretty quickly because of the pain. One thing I’m worried about though is I’ve already fainted 3 times and it’s only my first day. Every time I slowly get up to go to the restroom I start to feel extremely lightheaded after a couple steps and I blackout. I go completely blind for about a minute and then my eyesight slowly starts to come back. My temperature drops and I sweat A LOT. It’s scary cause I’ve never fainted or experienced anything like this. I’m going to call my doctor tomorrow morning and ask if it’s normal and maybe how I can avoid it. I think mine was just a regular circumcision cause I have stitches that are supposed to fall out in a few days. And I’m also sleeping naked when I can (I’m in my living room cause I can’t walk up the stairs right now). Did you also feel weak on your first day? And how do you feel now on your 14th day?
Feeling weak because of they give you injections before operation of first day.
For me day 14 is hardcore erections which i am 80% fail to control and it results in little skin burn feeling because of stretch skin by erection. I suggest try to control your erections because it will help you in heal faster. But we men almost fail in controlling and it's not a problem. It's just natural thing. Stay naked will make you comfortable. Just be tension free. No stress. Take vitamin C more for fast healing skin. Do take care of being any kind of infection free. Use pain killer if you can't control pain. Take rest is more important.
Medicines must be on time to time. Don't worry, everything will be fine. God bless you bro.
Nothing just keep clean and give it a time, that's what my doctor said and i am still waiting even after 5 months . Still 30% irritation between cut part and glance. It depends on skin type of person. Some people ok on just 2 months and some like me upto 1 year or 8 months (as I already read on this site, some one told me that he was ok after 8 months)
Hey bro, I read your entire comment thread. I recently got mine done 5 weeks ago and I have the same exact problem. I can only walk properly if I wear gauze and the skin is still sensitive when I put om boxer. After all.the time haa it gotten better for you?
Bro what happened to ur sensation plz tell ! I had my circumcision done 8 days ago but hypersensitivity is killing me! I am stressed and worried and can't do anything 😭😭😭! When did yr sensitivity go? Plz tell
I just had my circumcision produce done 8 days and I still have some mild swelling behind the head. The head is really sensitive due to phimosis and not being able to pull the foreskin back. I am 26 years old. How long until the head becomes less sensitive so that I can not wear a gauze? Any advice would help.
I am about to complete two months since the procedure. I am completely healed and back to normal. I am not experiencing any discomfort. It took about a month for the penis to become less sensitive.
The swelling usually takes about two weeks to subside. As I mentioned in my 10 point answer earlier, it would benefit you to take vitamin C rich food and bone broth that help the body recover faster. The head will be sensitive for about 3-4 weeks, and will slowly start to accustom itself to the fabric. It is common that the head is sensitive in the first two weeks.
If it helps, I used to shape sterilized/surgical cotton in the form of an abdominal guard/shield that I placed over my penis inside my undies, and of course it was a new shield that I made everyday. A good taco sized (3inch diameter) cotton roll would last about a week and a half.
After bath, I used to air dry myself completely by standing naked under the fan in my room before putting on the shield, this was to prevent the cotton strands from sticking to the head of the wet penis and also I wanted to avoid wrapping gauze around the penis. Wrapping the penis with gauze meant having to undergo pain every time I removed it during bath.
I found the above method to be very effective and comfortable.
I am not yet circumcised, but I often keep my long foreskin fully rolled back (with a foreskin ring).
In the beginning, it was also nearly unbearable (really unbearable), but now, it is perfectly ok, just a light feeling of the glans being close to the underwear...
Bro, don't speak if you have no knowledge. The head doesn't get need to get moist all the time and the foreskin doesn't keep the head moist all the time. And who said there are callouses forming on glans after circumcision? Also there is no purple tint of anyone whatsoever. Don't spread negativity all around bro.
Your bang right Mr bloomer I am 60 and I had about 8 infections had phimosis and ballantis been to he'll and back had it done 10/12/19 and he still,as not fully recovered but I can the phimosis and ballantis was worse than the op
Ryanthelion2- Hi bro yeah I think you may have to go in for circumcision If you are not able to fully retract the foreskin, I had phimosis but myn was severe but I’d recommend you go to the doctors and have it checked, I just had my circumcision 8/9days ago
it’s been alright, for the first few days I was drugged up on painkillers, ibuprofen and paracetamol so it’s not been painful as much but i would recommend wearing lose fitted pants as it helps a lot, I’ve been healing alright so far but after the first day I got a shower for the first 5days and then started having short salt baths (5-10mins).
The pain circumcision causes is moderate but very sensitive but what I would recommend after having it done is wearing lose pants without underwear and for the first 3/4days wear a dressing around it as it helps a little with the sensitivity. I’d personally recommend having salt baths after the 5th day as it helps keep it clean, keep drinking water afterwards and keeping yourself hydrated.
Honestly bro don’t be nervous, after 1-2weeks it will feel a lot better
Hey bro,I'm on my 2nd day now and the sensitivity is hurting as hell, the dressing fell after the 1st day and I had to get another one and it was even more painful, can you recommend me how to sleep or what else to do because I'm losing my mind
Sorry bro I’ve only just seen this, after I had it done I was wearing loose fitting pants and lying on my back but it’s also comfortable lying on your side but just move your penis and rest it on your leg with a dressing on it, I was using dressings every day for the first week and changing it everyday after a shower, have you been taking paracetamol/ibuprofen/painkillers? I feel like they help but it gets a lot better for sure, also bro after 5days I’d recommend having salt baths to encourage faster healing but only have 5-10minutes baths
I’d recommend you get a full shower tbh, I don’t know what it’s like with a gauge on like so I couldn’t recommend anything for that because I didn’t have that kind of circumcision ahah but yeah just keep taking your painkillers and all that bro
Hello guys. I am trying to gather guts of getting this done. I am 36 married and have kids - never had the courage to go through with this operation - never been operated on before. I have phimosis but the foreskin retracts when I am extremely moist while having sex but it’s very rare. It puts me off having sex to be honest. I am hoping to connect with someone who has gone through this recently and around my age to know how it feels please.
Hey man I’m 30 and just got it done yesterday. Suffered all life with tight foreskin that I could retract in the shower but it took a while / multiple tries to get it back and was decently painful and would sometimes cause microtear then scar tissue started building up. Also was a handful of times that I couldn’t get the foreskin back up. I decided to get it done to avoid the potential medical emergency that can comes from the fore skin getting stuck around the glands. It happened a few times I was able to gently squeeze the head and push the blood slowly back out of the head to get the foreskin back up. These are very scary moments. In any case cleaning it properly got too painful so I decided to pull the trigger.
My advice is here: make sure to take a pain killer before the surgery or right after, the numbing wore off fast and I was caught off Gaurd with the amount of pain. Pain only lasted 4 hours Ish. Went to the doctor today and they removed the dressing. They said to keep it open and just wash it with soap and water / pat dry. Currently it’s so sensitive I can’t wear boxers or pants. Even a tissue touching it makes me cringe. Really hoping the hyper sensitivity goes away as I could barley sleep last night from it. Mind you I didn’t take the narcotics just Tylenol. Hope this helps.
I just got my circumcision yesterday, im supposed to keep my gauge on for 2 days. But my glans have been really sensitive and it’s unbearable, I’m afraid of taking a shower and need to wipe it off with a towel which will probably cause a lot of pain. Any advices?
Got mine done 3 days ago still so sensitive it’s unbearable can’t sleep, tried washing it but the pain is unbearable really loosing my mind just hoping it gets better in time
Hey man I got mine done 6 days ago and there’s really no pain when it’s just free hanging but the head is still quite sensitive. Put on underwear today and it was manageable but had to walk like a cripple or else it would start to hurt. Not sure how I am supposed to go back to work as I work a manual labor job,
believe me for my case if there was another option i wouldve gone for that..u can keep arguing against circumcision but for some of us its the only way to lead a normal sex life.
yo guys, I just had my circumcision done yesterday for phimosis and I’m seeing some improvement already
I have a couple of questions-
Does the penis look more graduated/natural over time? I still have my bandages on but I caught a glimpse of it just after surgery and the cut was done quite low down the shaft (about halfway down the penis) due to my tight foreskin..I’m quite dark skinned hence why it looks more unnatural to me
2nd question is it normal to have urine spray in different directions at first? My stream normally focuses after but it is much thinner than before
Yeah im on day 6 at the moment and yeah first few days the pee sprays everywhere! Last two days for me has been relatively straight stream. I had severe phimosis before, so peeing is amazing now!
I’m on day three and my urine sprayed everywhere and I had to clean up the bathroom about three times now 😂
Urinating takes a little practice, my tip is to build up a little pressure first before letting go, i.e make sure you have a strong stream and it’ll go straight. See if that helps?
I’ve tried that, not really having much luck. I’ve noticed that there’s tiny pieces of membrane blocking the hole making it smaller - sometimes I am able to gently wipe it out using toilet tissue but it keeps coming back
Hi, i’m on day 5 post op, and i’ve also got that membrane problem making urinating a bit difficult and sometimes quite irritating (it stings a bit because the hole is blocked). I can’t wipe all of it out because the head hurts. Is it still a problem for you?
3rd day ... Lost some stitches i think because of coughing at 2nd night.... But no pain yet, may because of painkillers. Had to undergo this surgery because of phimosis. Plus i have supersensitive penis glan
I'm on week 9 right now. Things heal in time. My stitches started falling out at week 4 and were out by week 5. I still have sensitivity but little by little it is coming less sensitive. Swelling goes down bit by bit.
I am Indian also who suffered from phimosis and sensitive glans.
I was able to masturbate on week 8, but have decided not to challenge it as much so it can heal properly.
Week 6. Please note that I am a type 2 diabetic and I am on blood thinning and blood pressure medication. If you are healthier than me, you will heal faster.
For the first 4 weeks, I would keep in bed and lay naked to let everything 'dry out.' I bought gauze and Gentle Wrap tape from CVS so that I can bandage my penish like how it was after the operation so I can start walking around again. I also bought compression underwear, a sports cup, and a jock strap to help guard and not provoke movement. I stopped using the cup within 2 weeks though and just used the underwear and jock strap and put extra wrapping.
I will say that using the wrapping has been great for getting me out of the house, but it becomes a crutch. The advice is to grit through the pain and get use to the underwear rubbing rather than pamper and shield the glans and foreskin. I should be walking around in my backyard getting use to the sensitivity rather than trying to shield myself from it.
Currently on my 5th day, had pinhole phimosis so I couldn't pull the skin back at all. sensitivity is manageable but it does catch me off guard sometimes when it chafes my leg. I've been putting petroleum jelly on the head of my penis and antibiotic ointment under the glans and wrapping it day by day, little to no pain as of the 5th day!
Hi everyone. Don’t know the etiquette on here so please let me know if I’m doing anything wrong, but I’m likely getting circumcised later this year and my anxiety has driven me here.
The main concern for me is not the operation itself but the sensitivity post-op. I think I have a moderate case of phimosis, I have only just recently been able to retract myforeskin fully when flaccid, due to steroid cream/stretching etc. Erect I can only retract back halfway over the glans maximum.
When I touch my glans now it is unbearably sensitive and I have no idea how I’m going to cope post-op when it’s exposed for the first time.
Is there anything you can do to prevent involuntary erections?
During the day time you usually dont get erect, ar night it usually wakes you up buy isnt incredibly painful, very tolerable.
Urinating is no problem, the same as always except i feel that I have to dry with toilet paper.
The glans sensitivity is uncomfortable and I recommend being naked until the wound heals a bit, after that wear some loose briefs and dont move too much, touch it during the day to get it used to the feeling, get some water on it also eventually it will get better and better.
Pd im currently on day 3 post operation, no pain, only some mild-moderste sensitivity
Hey man. I got my circumcision done 6 days ago on Monday the 24th. The pain has definitely decreased a bit for me. The first couple days are pretty hard. My penis was extremely swollen and the stitches stung and itched. My glans was also painfully sensitive so I still keep it loosely wrapped with medical gauze. There is really nothing you can do to decrease glans sensitivity except for wearing a bandage/gauze type thing around the glans to keep it covered while your sensitivity decrease or walking around without pants. So far the only time I’ve taken my gauze off is to shower. Urinating stung a bit for me the first day or two but I am fine now. Lastly, the erections have been hard to manage. I wake up every morning with one and it is extremely painful because the stitches are getting tugged one. I can’t prevent waking up with one but if I begin to get an erection during the day or going to bed I get up and walk around thing about sports until it subsides. Hope this helped and good luck!
Hi everyone. This is my first day. Had surgery 1 hour before. Sitting very cautiously right now expecting lot of pain from any touch. Had a very very minor pain during the surgery. What I'm worried about is how I'm going to deal with the pain post surgery. Will keep you posted about it.
Of course u can cover with a soft cotton piece of cloth.
However, there is always a probability thr cloth may stick to the wound which inturn may hurt you while taking it off. Better leave is open so the wound may heal fast
I got the surgery about 5 hours ago. I had minor pain while the surgery was going on. Afterwards I had maybe 2 hours of moderate pain and went away (I took some Tylenol tho). Right now only the sensitivity of the glans is worrying me. Anyone can clarify me on how this will go on for the following weeks?
I’m 19 years old and I just got one done earlier today and the pain was unimaginable. The tip feels super sensitive to my boxers. Does it eventually go away? Cause man I can barely walk
Yes, eventually your glans will be desensitized. It does take time though. The worst part for me was the nocturnal erections. Beware, you will get excruciating erections in the middle of the night. That too will eventually get better. Good luck!
I am in the same condition now as you were 2 years ago. My head of the penis is super sensitive and the pain is like electric shock when it touches the clothing. Also, the gauze is wet due to sweat or something after sometime.
Its one week since my circumcison. My glans was very very sensitive but now it is getting better. Sensitivity now is 5 from 10. First 3-4 days night erections were hell, but now im sleeping without problem. I’m still putting gauze when i put underwear because i have small wound at the top of the glans and it hurts but sensitivity is almost gone. Hope next week stiches to fall and be able to masturbate. To all people who are going to do this surgery or done it recently - dont worry it needs time to get better and after 5-6 days you will feel much better.
Hi guys, not sure if this thread is still active or not. I had my circumcision yesterday so it’s been approx 24 hours since it was done. The entire process so far has been painless (please note the fact there has been an absence of pain doesn’t mean there hasn’t been discomfort) and I’ve had no trouble peeing. Seems like the main problem like most of you is the unbearable sensitivity from the glans when it touches any part of clothing. I’ve tried both tight boxers and loose joggers; neither of which make much difference so I’ve taken to penguin walking around the house with my hand keeping my penis still so it doesn’t rub. I had some trouble with bleeding yesterday but thankfully tomorrow I’m able to shower it. Just a couple of questions, what does the first shower feel like? And with regards to coconut oil and Vaseline I’ve seen mentioned, do I just rub it around the head of the penis gently? How much does it help? TIA
I’m going through it right now I got circumcised about 4 days ago and when you take a shower, just fill up ur bathtub with warm water and just get in after like 3 mins start washing your hair, then when ur soaping ur body I didn’t touch my dick at all, when I was washing the shampoo out my hair the shampoo water did not hurt my penis or anything , to be honest all you have to worry about is the glans and how sensitive it is, mine is really sensitive it hurts when it touches anything I have to sleep naked with no blanket and everything. Nothing really is bothering me, it’s only the sensitivity witch is the worst thing in the world.
It is been 18 days after my circumcision surgery. But, still I am roaming around with a bandage wrapped around my penis. I feel pain on the edge and penis is super sensitive. How long it took for you to be completely normal?
It took me around three months! But, I removed my bandage after day 3 and never wrapped my penis again. It helped desensitized my glans. I also soaked my penis in warm salt water to help with swelling! This healing does take some time!
Have your stitches desolved yet? I don’t remember being in pain at week 3. Is it minor pain or discomfort? I’m certain your doctor will advice you of what to do!
Yes! The sensitivity is quite uncomfortable. However, you do need to desensitize your glans little by little. I wore lose shorts and no underwear and stayed home for two weeks! When I went out I wore tight underwear so there wouldn’t be any movement!
Yes! The frenulum for me was the last to heal. As a matter of fact, that is what I feel when pulling too hard when masturbating.
You’ll have to slowly start desensitizing your glans. Remember, they’ve been covered your entire life. It will take about 2-3 weeks to fully desensitize them!
3 weeks today since my circumcison. I returned to my normal life, no gauze, no sensitivity. Only stitches are still there but yesterday I saw one on my underwear, that means they’re falling. I even masturbated some times and it feels better than before.
That was fast. You used to retract your foreskin and expose your glan before? Prior to circumcision. If the glan has been conditioned before it would be fast to desensitize.
To any future people who come here seeking advice I just wanted to share my experience. I had my circumcision 3 days ago and here's what I was told...
Surgeon/Doctor stated I do the following:
First Day Post Surgery:
- Urinate normally (may burn but don't worry about it)
- Take prescribed meds (antibiotics and pain killers (if needed)) --- I got prescribed Tylenol 3 as the pain killer and truthfully I never use it because the pain is very tolerable/non-existent ... I do use Tylenol 3 (1 pill) just before bed to help with sleeping through nocturnal erections (they hurt like a bitch)
- For sensitivity, keep underwear loose
- Drink plenty of clear fluids (gatorade, water, Emergen-C, etc.)
- REST (general anesthesia will leave you feeling tired so rest
Day 2:
- To shower, avoid getting dressing wet (I just took a sponge bath and kept water away from penis)
- Use a mini Dixie Cup to house penis head from underwear(this was a game changer for me ... on the first day I didn't do anything to protect the penis and felt an insane amount of sensitivity anytime the fabric would touch it, the dixie cup removes any chance of that and leaves me feeling much more comfortable)
- Continue drinking fluids
- "By day 2 you should be able to return to normal function" - I found this only possible with the dixie cup
Day 3:
- Remove dressing carefully --- (I gently ran warm water over the dressing to loosen it up then sat on the toilet and carefully removed it ... didn't get much pain from removing it)
- Shower after removing but keep soap away from penis as it will burn and may slow down healing process (to clean it I just kept running warm water over penis and was able to clear all of the blood and shit away)
- Continue using mini Dixie Cup to house penis
Day 4-13:
- Shower normally slowly incorporating soap onto penis (if it burns wait another day to really wash it)
- use mini Dixie Cup
Day 14:
- come in for post op visit
Overall, USE THE MINI DIXIE CUP --- that shit is amazing and is such an elegant solution to the whole sensitivity problem and plus it does not require ointments or creams.
(side note: my penis is longer than that of a mini Dixie Cup but the goal isn't to fit the entire penis in the cup, the goal is to just house the head ... so as you put on your underwear just slip the cup onto the penis head and support it via underwear (you may need to wear tighter underwear (I wear boxer briefs and it works great for me)).
So as you can tell from my name on here, I have my operation on the 18th March and I'm absolutely shitting myself.
My biggest worry is although I've always been able to pull my foreskin back, my head has always been super sensitive. Before meeting my doctors to discuss the surgery, I'd read online that doctors say sensitivity isn't reduced when you have a circumcision.. I'm really hoping that isn't true? I can't imagine living the rest of my life with that sensitivity.
Can someone confirm, how much sensitivity do you lose?
Ah I should have probably mentioned that, it's tight across a particular area that when it's over my glan and I'm fully erect - I basically get strangled. When I'm flaccid the same thing happens after a minute or so. Regular masturbation or sex causes all of the skin to crack and split. Had frenuloplasty last year, but it did nothing and this is the only other option now.
Had circumcision 4 days ago ! Don't know what to do! Should I wear tight underwear or should I leave it at the mercy of gravity? Glans is super sensitive and I had the same problem as you!
I got circumcised on March 22 and it's still super sensitive and a simple touch is super unpleasant. I can describe this sensation as an electric shock! Today I wanted to put on a boxer but I didn't have the courage and I was afraid so I postponed it for next week 😂
Hey bro! I would say that I have less sensation than before the circumcision or the first week of the circumcision! But I am not able to put on the underwear is what I think because I am too afraid to try 😁 But tomorrow I'm going to try to put on underwear to see if I can handle the pain! The problem is mostly fear but we'll see tomorrow! And did you try to put on underwear? Have you noticed any progress in your sensitivity? Let me know ...
Actually it depends, it's still super sensitive for me too but I'll tell you tomorrow, truth time 🤝 And also to tell you I've been naked 24/24h until now so try to keep as much as possible in the air (it's an advice I received) and to tell you I was hypersensitive at the beginning but now it's getting better but we'll see tomorrow. Now I can increase the flow of water without any pain before it was not the case at all!
I am too naked all the tym but still covering it with gauze to not let it rub against anything! Keep me updating bro! I can wash it with low pressure but not with high pressure! It just gives me current!
I don't know why my brain is not adjusting to the changes! Like u even I can't wear boxers ! Any rub and I am gone!! Trying to soak my stick in warm salty water! Try this!
Yeah I try to put salty water for help removing stitches! Thanks bro for your advice and keep in touch if you have any updates in ur sensitivity and I will do the same! Hope everything will be fine soon... and I have a appointment 23th April so I need to put my underwear next week even if It’s very sensitive, I don’t have choses so if you want try with me so we will have pain for 2 days but after it’s will be ok 🤝😁
Lucky u bro !! Living in France ! Me in this shithole 🥲! Nd yeah u should ask him! Nd what circumcision did u had? Any advanced or normal circumcision ?
Hey bro, 3 days ago I put on a tight boxer and I put my dick vertically, at the beginning it hurt but I resisted and yesterday I was going to play cricket yes yes I was going to play cricket and it was rubbing a lot and it hurt a lot but I don't care I was focused on the game and today I was going to play cricket again and I'm starting to feel less and less pain! I don't think about my dick anymore and I can see that it's starting to become normal and I'm getting back to feeling good and I think that in another week I'll be totally cured! Brother, I advise you to do the same, only rubbing can reduce the sensitivity, don't be afraid, it hurts at first but after a few days you get used to it!
Yeah I am doing the same since 3-4 days and that’s doing the job but still when water falls on it and if it gets rubbed then it’s uncomfortable but right and left side of my glans is less sensative except front and back and especially the corona sulcus! The urinary stream is clear with no problems! It’s not spreading anymore like it used to ! Anyways keep updating!
Hey bro! Sorry for the late answer I was a little bit busy, so yeah I consult my urologist and he said everything is perfect and right now I have a little bit sensitivity and everything is fine I’m happy! Wbu bro?
if you don't mind me asking how are you feeling now? It's been a couple of years for you now.
I had my circumcision a couple of weeks back. I am still having to wear the gauze and a couple of my stitches are still there. The glans is still really sensitive. Right now, it feels like I will have to wear the gauze for the rest of eternity. Also, because of the gauze keeping the penis up, it's a little hard to bend and stuff. Did it get better for you?
Hi, I’m in the same position you were in when you posted this. Could you please let me know how the head sensitivity is now? I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Hi 24anon, I am a lot, lot better. There is still only a slight swelling on the frenulum area but that is also getting better slowly. I can bend and move around with ease. I still wear pretty tight briefs. Earlier, I used to keep my penis up, now I keep it down, so that it lies on my scrotum. I also pull my foreskin over the penis as much as possible to keep the glans covered but even if it pulls down on it's own, it doesn't hurt. The stitches are gone. The head is sensitive, but it's improving. I still avoid touching it a lot, but I am able to touch it gingerly without the same sensitivity as I used to have. It keeps getting better, buddy. Hang in there. All the best. Just take it one day at a time
Might be a long shot as this is 2 years old but would really really appreciate if you could let me know how you feel now/how long it took for penis head to lose sensitivity so you can get back to normal life? I had circumcision 10 days ago after 24 years of phimosis and the head sensitivity is unbearable. Very much in the ‘WTF have I done’ stage. Could really use someone like yourself whose been in the same position to tell me it’s going to be alright. Feeling really down about it atm
Hi, you will be fine after 1-2 weeks. I had the same problem and I was also in that "WTF have I done" stage. Don't worry it will take some time for it to lose sensitivities. For me basically, I just rest or sit with my penis out (without gauze, I leave my glans out) for a few days first, and if I have to walk I will cover my penis with gauze and vaseline. And after the first week of leaving my penis out as much as possible, I tried to put my penis in my underwear without any dressing. It's definitely uncomfortable at first, rubbing makes my penis very uncomfortable, but it lost its sensitivity in just 4-5 days!
Trust me, for the first few days just leave your penis out and let it breathe, touch your glans with a clean hand often. and then after a week, you can try to put your penis in your underwear without only dressing, because only rubbing can reduce the sensitivity.
Hey, it's been exactly 5 weeks for me and I'm quite concerned. Long shot at getting a reply here but yours is the most recent comment. 5 weeks post circumcision and I can go to work, sleep peacefully. Etc. The first 3 weeks were hell. But now it's better. However I can't wear boxers. The tip is still kinda sensitive. I usually limp with boxers on. But when I put gauze in front of my underwear like a sanitary pad then it doesn't hurt and I can walk normally. I'm jjat concerned. It's been 5 WEEKS. That's a long time and I still have a sensitive tip. Is this normal? I'm really concerned..
I’m on postop day number three and I’m having the same issue due to the exact same problem of phimosis. The head gland of my penis is extremely sensitive and I have to keep it pointed up for some type of comfort any tips 🥺😫
Keep it wrapped bro when you have things to do and at night leave it open as you sleep so that air can get to it and heal sooner. I’m 3rd week and still sensitive but not as much, gets better after about 10 days. But sensitivity doesn’t usually drop for 6-8 weeks sometimes more
I’m 26 got circumcised 6 days ago and the tip is super sensitive! I’ve been leaning to one side and just airing it out as best as I can and it seems to help. My urologist said it was ok to use neosporin and I did but the stitches still hurt when it rubs against clothing. I hope it goes away soon but it’s Halloween weekend and I can’t do much but be in bed. Bummer.
The sensitivity pain is like braces after you get them tightened your mouth will be in so much pain for 2 weeks barely being able to eat but after two weeks your brain gets used to the pain and realises this is the new normal now and realises it can’t do anything to fight the pain so you get used to it and feel normal this is same with sensitivity on glance it will be painful but give it time your brain will start to get used to it and become normal again
I have been reading all of this wisdom shared by each of you. I am 43 and circumcised six weeks ago due to phimosis. On the first day of the operation, I was scared like crazy. The Urologist injects a couple of painful local anesthetics into my balls. Boy, that was painful.I did not feel anything about the actual incision but, when he started cutting open the glan for the first time, I cried like a baby. I went home and noticed some bleeding but very few for the last two to three days. The urologist prescribed two kinds of pain killers, a regular one ( Tylenol) and the strong one (Morphine). I did not take the Morphine. I only took Tylenol for the first night. Not much pain though except the hypersensitivity of the glan.
After one week, I changed bandages twice a day. I used polysporin(the black one).
Changing the bandages was also a nightmare. I wrapped my penis with the bathroom tissue after 4th week and wear snug and fit underwear to keep it still.
I pour Johnson's baby oil( Green one that contains Aloe and Vitamin E) every time I unwrapped the tissue while going to the bathroom. Slowly, I started using Lidocaine spray with 0.5% then moves on with 4%. I sprayed 4 times a day. I think it helps. On the 6th week, I am able to wear just the underwear without any bath tissue. That was a relief!!! There is a lot of sensitivity but slowly improving. btw, masturbation helps. please, do it carefully. I did it after 4th week. I am still able to masturbate the way I did before. no issues at all. Patience is the key. Welcome to the cut world. I don't regret it. I am loving my new cut penis,
