I had a circumcision more than 8 months ago because I had phimosis that was not responding to any other treatments. Right after the operation I had irritation at the tip around the opening of the urethra. I even got what appeared to be a blister. 8+ months on, I still have a darker color around the opening and occasionally it peels a little around the opening. Is this normal to still be having these issues? My father had phimosis followed by circumcision that eventually turned into penile cancer. That worries me. Any thoughts?

continuing problems 8 months following circumcision
Yeah I get this too, didn't not know it might be linked to penile cancer. I have really sensitive skin so I figured is was just that. I put moisturizer on it and it seemed to help.
Circ'd in late April
Foreskin protects the meatus (urethra opening). Blistering seems common from others posting, which resolve. Recurrent irritation can lead to meatal stenosis needing repetitious forceful jabbing dilation or surgery. Stenosis is more likely to develop with frenum excision causing compromised circulation in the area. It’s interesting to note meatal stenosis is so common in Israel that it is often labeled “his second circumcision”. Constant irritation anywhere of the body can promote cancer. So far penile cancer is only attributed to certain HPV strains. Penile cancer is typically located at the foreskin which is remedied by amputation. If circumcised then it’s problematic if there is not enough skin after surgery to cover the penile shaft.
Go back to Doc' and express your concern. Did they take a biopsy at the time of Circumcision ? Especially with the family history you do need further investigation. Ask to be referred if Doc' is not helpful.
You could always call into a Sexual Health Clinic for advice. Not really what they do, but just say you where told to go.
