Hi all been given some cream but may need operation i was circumcised 10 years ago. But the doctor said i have posthitis never heard of it but he did say its another name for Balanitis is it worse then Balanitis. But he saw the cuts and said its very painful when i wee. I did say could it be a buried penis with the way it looked

"Posthitis" is the term for an inflamed foreskin while "balanitis" is the term for an inflamed glans (tip of the penis). One isn't necessarily more severe than the other, it's just where the inflammation is located. Oftentimes both foreskin and glans are inflamed which is called "balanoposthitis", but since that's such a long term, it is often shortened to "balanitis". This may be why your doc said posthitis is another name for balanitis. I know you said you are circumcised, but part of the foreskin does remain after circumcision (the band of tissue at the neck of the penis). Perhaps this is what your doc is talking about as being inflamed (unsure, just a guess). Topical anti-inflammatory creams can be really helpful for many men for posthitis.
