Hi,

M suffering from phimosis since my childhood never able to retract foreskin while flaccid or erect. Will circumcision cure this issue? And much feared for the circumcision.

To answer your direct question in kind, yes it would. However that is usually the last option if others have been tried or considered, e.g. you will be asked many times if you’ve tried stretching with use of prescribed topical steroid cream. It’s not an overnight fix however it’s the first thing to try (if viable & there’s a chance of success). There is also a lesser surgery that involves a slit to loosen the opening (search for preputioplasty or ‘dorsal slit’) that works for some. You need a doctor’s opinion on this one I’m afraid and they’ll go through the options available.

Hi thanks for responding, i have tried stretching for few days, and found the increase in opening, but got some cut inside of foreskin n i.e have to stop it.

Hi. How did the cut inside your foreskin happen?

Hi i use to do two finger stretching, and stretched it bit long, it was pain for few hours and then it was again normal

in reply toAshktcup

Yeah you do have to be careful as tears can lead to scarring that ultimately makes the problem worse.

Dont you think circumcision will clear at once for all, pain for one two months and then its all over will be free, instead of stretching which may or may not bring any results

Why not try this website? It might give you ideas about stretching your foreskin.

It probably would, however it should be based on your doctor's recommendation and your informed decision

I haven't tried any topical cream for this, but m really frustrated with this phimosis.

Jas, the poster has already stated he "fears" circumcision which suggests he's seeking alternative remedies. Regardless of the source, trying to scare the pants off him by highlighting the risks of circumcision isn't helpful in this instance. He's looking for a cure not an agenda.

*You need to see your doctor* to discuss your options. Use of a steroid cream along with stretching is usually a start.

Exactly right

Hi buddy, I suffered with the same issue for many years. Circumcision was the only cure. It's been 1 year and fours months since I've had a circumcision and theres no regrets. Its alot better once it heals and gets better with time.

Can I remind members that circumcision is not the only cure for phimosis. Guidance in the UK is that stretching is tried first. While some people have a good experience with circumcision, that is by no means universal.

Hi , as you can see many people have different opinions, the best I would would be go and doctor talk to them about what you have been doing, and go from there ,as for me had same problem, cream didn't work ,and was circumcised by nhs last year had some discomfort for a few days ,but now all clear

Hi thanks for your valuable feedback.

Didnt u were affected by sensitivity? As many who get circumcised due to phimosis suffered from this.

Hi there

In January I had a circumcision due to phimosis.

It had never bothered me and I didn’t really know any different, and to be honest I guess I was lucky in the respect that neither didn’t any of my partners over the years. Not one comment .

My current partner who I have been with for 6 years has never mentioned it either and was suprised one night when I got my foreskin trapped behind my head of penis after trying to pull back, I ended up in hospital. They got it back into normal position and it started the process of being circumcised. It took 6 months from being in hospital one night to actual procedure on the NHS. I’m in my 30’s and wish I had in done 15 years ago.

Best thing you can do in my opinion.

Your circumcision was due to paraphimosis and not phimosis. Different ball game.

Poster has stated he’s already tried stretching and endured short term pain and damage through tearing.

in reply to

This is without the use of steroid cream.

Due to complaints, I have reviewed this thread and radically pruned it. I have deleted posts that promised results that cannot be promised.

To recap. You should consult a doctor. The doctor will examine your penis and advise you to try stretching with a steroid cream or to have a circumcision if it is thought that your phimosis is too severe.
