Good morning. I’ve had a circumcision and frenulum cut (Frenulectomy). I’ve suffered from severe phimosis and balanitis for years. I’m 6 days in after having done the surgery.
For now I’ve been lying in bed (with penis facing towards belly-button) or sitting for most of the time, as I feel quite a bit of discomfort and pain walking (or even sitting, if for long enough). I’ve also had a bit of bleeding on my frenulum on day 5 post-op. Doing everything as indicated by my doctor.
I’d greatly appreciate it if I could get feedback on some things I’ve been experiencing.
- Dry, peeling skin on glans
- Bruising on penis (dark purple color)
- Protruding swelling “ridge” beneath glans, besides general swelling (this protruding swollen area hurts more than the rest)
- Painful night time erections
I’m going to attach some photos. I really appreciate any feedback that I can get, as this is something that’s been haunting me for the last couple of days. Really hoping I can put my stress to rest.
Thank you deeply in advance

All perfectly normal for your stage takes about 6 weeks for things to settle down Stiches will probably drop out about 3 weeks and Frenulem takes the longest
I’m day 13 and slightly different reasons to having the cut than you, but i suffered with Balanitis.
The doctor advised me to use Chloramphenicol 1% (used mainly on eye infections) on the stitches which was a total god send!!! You can get it over the counter. I also use Daktarin when I need to. The Chloramphenicol super helped not only because of the healing qualities, but it keeps things from drying up. I don’t use much at all just over the stitches really, but I put a small amount of vasoline on the top side of my balls to keep things from getting dry or sticking.
I hear you with night erections (see my post) keep the knees up when hard is all I can say, a mate on here suggest frozen pees, but It’s a long trip to the freezer with a Hardon for me- so I haven’t done that. The Hardon pain is getting better every night - so hang in there.
I also have the swelling under the bell, and it’s my main concern - but the replies to my post have really helped me today.
I had already had my frenulum removed so didn’t have it done with my circumcision. But I remember the pain, I’d probably say it was worse that the full cut. (Time will tell, I’m not over it yet)
Thank you so much for the feedback and tips. Definitely a big relief hearing what I’m experiencing isn’t uncommon. Really appreciate it. Wishing a quick recovery to you mate!
Hi Man it's all good it will just take time the first week or two is the worst just take it easy. Keep everything clean I'd use a little salted water to wash. The frenulum can bleed a little bit and weep it takes the longest to heal the swelling and bruising is normal the swelling can take a while to go.The dry glans is normal to it will help to desensitize the glans you probably find it very sensitive to touch you could use a little moisturiser to help make it more comfortable but it's best to let it dry out in the long run.
Erections lovely not much you can do. pee before bed time and the fetal position also helps.
You had something done at the base of your shaft?
So don't worry just take it easy it all looks fine it just takes time👍🏻
Thank you so much for all the help. This community’s been such a big relief, to be honest. Doc said he also performed a small plastic surgery to correct the curvature of the penis, since the frenulum was quite tight. That should be why the bottom of the shaft looks how it does! Thanks once again for the help, appreciate it brother 🙏
That's no problem sometimes information is scarce from the doctors. That explains why you had some work there I thought you might of had some webbing there.
Since you had phimosis, the glans was always covered but now it’s uncovered and the top layer of skin will peel off. Totally normal. The frenulum ALWAYS takes longer to heal and you may have oozing and swelling there long after the rest of the incision has calmed down. It takes time and there’s no way to speed up the process. 6 months from now you will feel like you’ve always been circumcised.
I had a frenuloplasty done about a decade before I finally got circed (yep, put up with all sorts of issues for that long!). The frenulum took ages to heal, longer than the circ did externally. Swelling and bruising completely normal at this stage. If you think about it a bruise elsewhere takes about a day to come out properly and a good 10 days to go through all the colour changes (plenty of experience here of that as a cyclist!).
In my case I had wet scabbing over my glans, it took about two weeks to completely resolve. The end point is a colour change for the glans, mine is quite a lot paler than it was. And fortunately not too sensitive
