Bio oil

I have not posted here in a while, I am going on my 10th month post circumcision. even though my cutline is completely healed and perfectly fine or at least I think so, I still have pretty prevalent scar tissue around the cutline. My question is … even though I’m this far along post circumcision does applying bio oil or coconut oil still aid in ‘healing’ scar tissue even if it (my cutline) is completely healed?

The main idea is to keep the scar line moisturised, cause it is damaged tissue and your body can not hydrate it properly. You can apply any fragrance free moisturiser, oil, emollient cream etc. Bio oil is just mineral oil like baby oil. FYI: There is no magic cream to get scar line disappear. Scar will develop 12-18 months post-op at least.

Have you applied any moisturiser earlier? or massaged the scar?

Thank you for this well informed reply, and to answer your question no i have not applied any moisturizer earlier or massaged it. I usually just apply a mixture of bio oil and coconut oil to it a few times a day because i thought that out would help. After reading the links you gave me it looks like I seem to have the hypertrophic type scar on my cut line. I’m going to invest in a silicone scar sheet as soon as possible. Thanks so much for this enlightening me to this information. \o/

If my experience is any guide, I'm afraid you'll be dealing with the scar for the rest of your life.

The scar i understand is going to be there. I want it to be smoothed down and same surface as my shaft. Aesthetically i know it’s going to be there forever and I’m fine with that :)

Yes, but why did you choose to amputate the most sensitive tissue on your body? Seems to me to be counter-productive

Hey man. Don’t get discouraged. I’m on my 12 month and the same is happening to me. I’ve been massaging the scar line and it’s slowly getting better. The scar may not completely disappear but at least it’s good to keep trying to smoothen it out. I’ve heard it can take up to 18-20 months so it’s worth to keep trying.

I’m sure yours will get better!

Totally! Mines is slowly smoothening out too! The scar i don’t mind so much aesthetically, my aim is to get the cut line to be smoothed down and then same surface as the shaft. If i can achieve through time and aid from these silicon sheets recommended then I’m happy.

I’ve been using contractubex gel since November having got circumcised in October. I have no raised scar at all now and no marked scar line at all just smooth skin at the join. It seems effective for me.

I used bio oil from as soon as I could stand to touch it. I then moved onto cocoa butter and now use coconut oil daily. Scar line is completely healed with no lumps or bumps and the coconut oil helps to stop it completely drying out. I prefer the feeling of it being a little soft so did not want full kerotination.I did use bio oil some weeks post surgery following an Op' on my neck and it definitely helped reduce the scar tissue.
