Using Bio-Oil on circumcision scar?

I’ve read a few posts from members here recommending to use bio-oil on the circumcision scar to smooth out the line. I’m currently on week 5 after my circumcision. All my stitches have fallen off but I still use vaseline on the line about once or twice a day.

When should I start using the bio-oil and how often should I use it?

I had started when I felt there was no more swelling and that the skin has dried and nicely continued on without any breaks. For me it was around the 5th week as well . Hygiene is very neccessary and you may want to massage small amounts along the scar line . All the best !

I was going to start last week but I feel more comfortable starting this week. I feel like some of the scar line he already smooth out on it’s on when I’m erect on some areas.

Do I use the oil on the head as well or just the scar line?

Even though it might seem safe to apply on the glans , I probably wouldn't since it contains perfume as well in its ingredients and I wouldn't want to irritate the glans. However there does seem to be a nice lightening effect although not very significant on the scar line . So would suggest you to only apply it to the scar line only ! Cheers !

It's up to you, but if you choose Bio-Oil you can buy Baby Oil instead. It's cheaper mineral oil than Bio-Oil. There is no scientific data that well advertised Bio-Oil is any better than any other mineral oil you can buy.

The idea is just to keep your scar line moisturized next 6-12 months. It will help soothe the scar line. You can spread any moisturizer like 2-3 times a day.

That makes sense. I’ll start with once in the morning and once before bed. My results have been pretty good so I’m happy with my recovery overall

Hi unknown87 as long as you have no scabs or open wounds you should be ok to gently massage some in on the scar line I preferred the coconut oil but a lot say it is good stuff take care and good luck

Thanx for the info. I’m going to try the bio-oil first but I have also heard great stuff about coconut oil.

I’m on week 5 myself and started using bio oil on week 4.I still have a few stitches lingering. Hoping bio oil will smooth out the scar because right now it’s pretty rough and challenging when masturbating.

in reply to Karchie

Definitely! I just started using the oil today. Let’s see how it improves over the next few weeks/months.

Are you putting it on your head as well? I’m only applying it on the scar. I’m applying Vaseline on the head!

in reply to Karchie

No not on the head. I don’t apply anything to the head. Just the oil on the scar line

Good to know. I will do the same. Thanks

bio oil is a bit expensive, so I also buy reasonably priced vco.

I use bio oil daily after shower, after drying area, I massage a few drops along scar line and spread excessive oils onto glans, doing that making my glans moist and soft.

I use vco if I feel I need to apply more than once per day, also the price is reasonable enough for me to use it as lube, and sometimes I'd consume a spoonful too, very good for digestion. vco is such a multi purpose oil. one can even apply it on hair.

Thanx for the clarification on your routine. If you don’t mind me asking, what is vco and where can I get it?

in reply to

it's virgin coconut oil.

very common oil, there are many type of vco with different type of oil extraction process.

in my place cold pressed vco is the most common, that's what I am using now.

Ohh gotcha. Yeah I’m aware of that. Sorry the initials threw me off lol

You can use it now. You just don’t want to put bio oil or anything else that is non sterile into a large open wound.

That makes sense. I wanted to make sure I’m in the clear first but I think I’m good now. Thanx for the information
