I just had my 3rd visit 13 weeks post op from a frenulectomy. I've been experiencing more pain, inflammation and scar tissue. The surgeon basically said he doesn't know why I still have pain and prescribed me another creme that was in fact the exact same creme he prescribed 4 weeks ago. I'm having a hard time sleeping because of the pain and if I get an erection it stretches the scar tissue left over. I asked the surgeon if there was any bio-oil or coconut oil he could recommend (non scented etc) and he said he didn't know what that was. I asked the surgeon why I'm still having so much pain when all I do is retract the foreskin gently and put water on it to clean it once per day. He said he doesn't know and I think he is trying to get rid of me as I'm taking up billable time.
He also said there will always be scar tissue after a frenuloplasty/frenulectomy which I guess makes sense. But if so, then why would I replace a tight frenelum with scar tissue with even more scar tissue in the first place?
Needless to say I'm on my own for this and I hope, just hope, that the scar tissue can loosen up and this will be better in time, even though it has already been 3 months.
Does anyone have any particular brands of coconut oil or bio-oil they use (non scented)? Corticosteroid creams have not helped at all.
Thanks in advance for any advice

It's up to you, but if you choose Bio-Oil you can buy Baby Oil instead. It's cheaper mineral oil than Bio-Oil. I have bought 1000 ml jar of Extra virgin coconut oil. It cost about 20 e. It's good lube also, but not with a condom. You can use it for cooking too.
There is no scientific data that well advertised Bio-Oil is any better than any other mineral oil you can buy.
The pain on wound area could be due to the nerve endings are now more exposed than before or were pinched between stitches too long. Did he/she cut scar line like T or Z (-plasty)?
I believe it was a z-like cut. I believe the procedure was more of a frenulectomy because about 0.75 cm of the frenulum was removed. So the frenulum wasn't "lengthened" per se.
I believe the problem area is at the bottom of the Z wound where there is some foreskin still attached to the shaft. Pulling it shows a small wound like it has been ripped. It is the exact same kind of pain I had when I tore my frenelum when it was still intact.
I'm using a corticosteroid twice a day (triaderm) on the area to try an prevent scarring. Should I stop using this? It hasn't really provided any benefit and the surgeon shrugged when I asked. Hence why I wanted to try a bio-oil. Part of me also just want to leave it alone. No retracting and no creams just to see if it will get better on its own.
Do exposed nerve endings eventually heal? I would think yes but it'd take much longer correct?
Hi lucasash you could try dermal 200 it's very good it's a shower emollient and it's antimicrobial moisturiser the doc gave it me but you can buy it off the internet it worked for me I still use it also when you have showered and dryed off you can put it on bits I also use coconut oil
Hello, coconut merchant does a really good one that is unrefined so it’s the real stuff.
You could also try bepanthen ointment, both of which can be found on Amazon.
Are you most worried about the scarring or the pain? Essential oils such as Roman and German chamomile oils are really good for pain and inflammation also eucalyptus oil also. Only 1 drop of whichever of the two you choose in a teaspoon of coconut oil.

Hope this helps.

There is a need to remember that Bepanthan ointment is not a natural product.
I agree with bepanthen. I was reccomneded it for tattoo healing and it was horrendous on sensitive skin so would keep away from it. I got a rash which took weeks to go away and that was on a 2 week old tattoo! It's very oily and perfumed
I’m so sorry that you had such a horrible experience, you should have visited your doctor straight away as soon as the irritation occurred. I was very much terrified of that happening with my tattoo and the artist told me to use bepanthen when I expressed my concerns. He mentioned 2 others first but I was not satisfied, I like options that I can do my own research and make the informed decision.
I used bepanthen on his recommendations and because (it’s a staple at the nursery my brother used to attend) I researched it, it was made for the most sensitive of skins as it’s a ointment created for nappy rash and used on babies to keep urine from getting into their nappy rash and speeds up healing. I’ve used it on my tattoo and it healed up in less than a week with a even scabbing which just slide off. Not a patch of my tattoo missing and the lines were perfect, they still are. It never got wet in the bath either the oil in there kept the water off.
When the skin is lacking moisture, and comes into contact with clothing the scar will be horrendous as it will be abrasive and not smooth. I was most horrified of my tattoo scabbing and scarring badly as well as itching which would cause me to touch it often. I washed my hands before I touched it and completely covered it with the ointment and it worked. That’s why I recommended it.
What happened with your tattoo, did you have it revised when it healed or did you have it removed?

I had my tattoo done at the age of 19/20 back then I was not on a natural journey. Not everybody is on the natural journey so I try to be helpful as much as I can. It is not long term use such as soap.
I'm worried about both as I can't take the inflammation in the evening, which feels like it's spread to my scrotum etc. I'm also worried about scarring because there is a considerable amount built up already and even just getting an erection, which stretches the newly formed scar hurts a lot. Thanks for the oil suggestions.
The scarring that is there already is it scabbing? Try not to let it come into contact with any abrasive clothing. Do you have any coconut oil?
The essential oils works very quickly and will help with the pain and healing, if used correctly. Please wash your hands before you touch the wound and apply gently. Also, research the oils and speak to your doctor for your information before you do anything.
I hope that you feel better soon and the pain goes and your scar is aesthetically pleasing when it heals.
