14 weeks post circumcision. The penis is completely healed however I STILL haven’t been able to have sex or do anything orally without feeling sensitive. The penis itself is fine, however things like showering, drying, it makes it feel raw, burning sensation. Went to the GP today, no sign of infection but they sent off a swab still, prescribed canesten cream and Elma numbing cream, has anyone else been in this situation? Does Elma work?

Hi there.
Very sorry to read you're still having issues. I haven't experienced the creams you've been prescribed, but am just wondering whether the shower gel/soaps you are using may be aggravating your penis? Maybe you could try using a hypoallergenic product and see if that's beneficial? Is it just the glans that is giving you the discomfort? I hope you see an improvement very quickly.
Best wishes. SetteeSofa
Hi,
That could well be why, I haven’t thought of that so tonight I won’t use the soaps we have at home and I’ll get some other non-perfumed ones. Yeah it’s just the glans, around the helmet, only certain parts but it’s enough to make it feel like it’s burning/raw and it’s instantly like ouch, then it goes, until it’s touched again!
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
Pop into your pharmacist and ask specifically for a hypoallergenic, rather than simply a non-perfumed, product. It would be nice if it did help, and fingers crossed that it will. Maybe, also, see if you can avoid drying the glans, and allow it to dry itself, just to avoid unnecessary rubbing/friction. Good news that the rest of your penis is OK.
I can empathise with the 'ouch' reflex!!!
Take care, good luck and all good wishes.

I had Betamethasone prescribed because of dermatological infection due to a previous infection. Cleared up within a few days and all okay now
Elma is a basic numbing agent so may help but won't 'cure'. As others have said use very mild soaps, baby soap is good. The other thing to note is touch does help to build up a resistance to pain. Introducing gentle pressure gradually helped me to overcome the pain. Spray from the shower and patting with a soft towel helped.
