Buried penis circumcision worries

I’m overweight type 2 diabetic. Lately I have been suffering from reoccurring balanitis from thrush for around 6 weeks so far. It clears up in around a week but every time I stop using the cream it comes back in 2 days. I have been told if the treatment doesn’t clear me up completely in the next 3 months I will need to be circumcised. I already suffer from a buried penis. Most of the time I just have a bunched up foreskin but if I push into the fat my penis comes out no problem. I’m worried what will happen if circumcised.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I guess that the obvious advice to assist your diabetes snd buried penis would be to have a good look at your diet and try to lose weight. If your blood sugars are not well controlled then that may be what is causing your thrush/balanitis to keep coming back after resolving with treatment. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi, sorry you are going through a rough patch. I have had to lose some weight recently and it’s really hard but, as Osidge observed, it would probably help across all your issues.

Regarding circumcision for the balanitis specifically, if the penis is somewhat buried post circumcision, the folds of flesh surrounding the glans will effectively recreate the moist, occluded conditions which the removal of the foreskin was intended to resolve. My suspicion is that circumcision would not therefore achieve the intended goal of curing the balanitis and you will have undergone an irreversible procedure unnecessarily.

It should also be considered that both your diabetes and buried penis, are likely to have a negative impact on your healing process from the surgery.

I really wish you success

Thanks. My penis totally disappears inside me just now only leaving an empty scrunched up foreskin outside. I’m scared if I have to get circumcised that I won’t be left with enough skin.

Completely understand your concerns. I really do not think your answer lies in circumcision and certainly as matters currently stand. Explore the current management of your diabetes, look at ways of losing weight and introducing gentle exercise into your lifestyle and see a dermatologist regarding the balanitis. All the best!

I would agree with others that your first step to completely curing your thrush balanitis is to loose weight so as to cease burying your penis as well as being generally better for your health.

If after that your balanitis cannot be permanently cured, you can then get circumcised, to remove the conditions that thrush thrives in, without risk of burying the glans.
