Swelling At Scar Site after Traditional Circumcision ?

Hi - How long can it take for swelling or inflammation at scar site to subside ? I have been 7 weeks post circumcision and inflammation is causing tightness and is painful.

Any suggestions for fast healing are welcome and appreciated.

TIA

Recovery from circumcision is a highly individual thing. We have had those who have still been in recovery at 1 year plus. Our member Arclight1979 has written some in-depth accounts of his journey. It might be helpful to read them. Please also seek medical advice for specific issues.

Assuming that your stitches are now out and the wound is closed up, I would try Vitamin E oil which can help with healing as well as smoothing out scars. Choose one with at least 20,000 i.u. or higher.

Hi - Yes i got sutures removed 15 days back, did not dissolve on their own. Now the main issue is the chronic inflammation at the scar site and tight scar site which is making retraction and erection painful, so either these 2 things are managed or i will have to go for a surgery again.

Vitamin E may make the scar little elastic and loosen up a bit, how do i manage chronic inflammation ?

As well as helping to soften the skin and lessen the scar tissue, vitamin E does have anti inflammatory properties so it's worth giving it a try. Sorry you're having such a rough time man

Hope this rough time passes soon. I have been advised coconut oil, don't know if it's as good as vitamin E oil.

I would go for the vitamin E oil to try and get the inflammation down and reduce the scarring. It's also lighter than the coconut oil. Hope things improve for you

Does it really help in loosening up the things ?

Well it will reduce the inflammation if that's what is stopping the skin retracting and soften the scar tissue but it depends on exactly what the problem is.

Over two weeks post op here and have something similar. Sutures have become quite hard at scar site, just wont come off. Feels like a ring of discomfort just beneath the glands and seems to be causing inflammation just underneath. It’s also making it uncomfortable to even walk properly.

I've lost length too and the skin on top rolls over the incision site to make this even more annoying.

Managed to get my consult review reduced from 8 weeks to 4 weeks. Nurse at A&E didnt have a clue…

I cant believe how the NHS just send you home and expect you to handle it on your own without any questions or probems, it’s not an easy recovery period at all.

Why do the stitches get hard and mix with dead skin, causing so much discomfort. I can see more red swelling at the bottom of the penis head compared to the top so quite clearly there is an issue as its causing pain and burning too
