I'm due to have a traditional circumcision on the NHS. It's being done by a private urologist who is highly acclaimed. He works for spire healthcare. It's an outsourced appointment.
He hasn't talked to me about style. It will be a fairly standard cut.
He told me I'll still have overhang skin when flaccid or at rest as he called it.
Would you assume he will sew behind the head?

Thank you. I'm lucky I think. NHS but initial appointment to steroid cream to circumcision all with same Spire Urologist. Out sourcing when overwhelmed. Kind of an expensive cost of NHS issues. But I figured the doctor isn't going to do my Circumcision any different to a private fee payer as he will have his way and he is getting paid regardless of who's paying. How did BMI approach it?
And I'm grateful for your advice.I'm looking for fellow Brits having experienced the British free system. Private is different in terms of approach. NHS is not likely to have a portfolio of photos.
Hi Jnt131 - I'm on day 26 post-op having had my circumcision in Kent & Canterbury Hospital. I was looked after by a fantastic team (as are all our wonderful NHS). I was offered a Local anesthetic or General? I chose a local. My op only lasted about half an hour although I was probably in theatre for about an hour. I was allowed home 2 hours after surgery. Thankfully I've experienced no problems or issues and my wound has healed perfectly. My last stich dissolved 2 days ago. I've been showering daily since day 4. Obviously its too soon to be enjoying any sexual activity (for myself) but hopefully (I'm sure) in the coming weeks things will be back to normal. Good luck with your procedure. When and where will it be done? 👍
I did my circumcision in NHS last month, now I'm in the 5th week. It's looks alright and it seems that they did a hight tight circumcision. They didn't ask me the preference but the did suggest me if I wanted to do only frenuloplasty or a circumcision. I then decided to do a circumcision just to prevent any problem in the future. I think you probably will have different results as our doctors will not be the same. But you can ask questions before your surgery and you will have a 1:1 with the doctor explaining you what they will do. I did have a general anaesthesia and local anaesthesia, so I didn't fell nothing for the first 2 days and had pain for the first 2 weeks. Let me know if you got any question.
Hi Ackshay27 - I agree with you, we're asked our preferences regarding the type of operation (or 'finish') we want, and our preference of anesthesia. I personally opted for a local as I didn't like the sicky feeling and lack of feelings for a couple of days after. However (and thankfully) I've experienced no pain or discomfort from the op to this day (I'm on post-op day 26). Obviously I'm still sensitive (but not pain) when I wash with a soft cloth around my 'wound' which itself is healing quite nicely. For the first 14-days I used Vaseline around the wound having been advised by my surgeon. But since then, nothing. Good luck. 👍
They tend to cut as the situation demands, some will get low and loose, some high and tight etc..it depends on things like if you’re a grower or a shower, they’ll recommend the one that’s generally best for you,if you want something that you prefer the look of rather than what would be the most appropriate cut then maybe think about going private.
It depends on the surgeons. Tell him if you're a grower or a shower, as he'll need to know how much slack to leave. Also, to make healing easier trim your pubes, you don't want them sticking to the wound. Personally mine done on the NHS was quite loose which I like as it helps with sensitivity and masturbation.
Hey guys, just found this forum and wished I’d found it earlier!I’m 10 days post circumcision, NHS via the BMI hospital, and experiencing a lot of discomfort and a paranoia that something ain’t right!
Also lots of mention of the use of Vaseline, nothing was said to me about its use?!
