Hey everyone, so I had my circumcision 12 days ago and was really happy with the outcome however the last 6 days or so have me quite worried. I was concerned about infection so I went to docs and he did a swab and prescribed me some "preventative" antibiotics but said he didn't believe it was infected so I'm currently 3 days into those antibiotics.
I want some advice about the appearance of it as I'm worried but may not need to be. The swelling and bruising has gone completely but the underside where they removed my banjo string, I feel like the stitches have come away leaving the incision open to the elements. There is a very mild smell of feet and it is weeping a yellowish clear fluid but after reading lots I'm not too worried about that one. I don't know whether to go to hospital or doctors. It may be normal. I don't know. It's not painful, swollen or hot/red like infections I've seen and had before. Any advice Greatly appreciated.

I’m not a doctor but what you’re describing sounds relatively normal compared with other healing journeys I’ve seen documented on here. I think your body would have quite a noticeable response to an infection and you should try (I know that’s easier said than done) to trust your body. If you’re feeling okay, then you should be okay.
How was the sensitivity for you? I’m about 4 days in now and it’s intense!
Hey thanks for the reply it really means a lot! Thankyou for your words and deep down I agree with you but when it's your lad on the line it can get pretty scary 😂😅 but yeah I think I need to calm down. How is yours going so far? The night erections are brutal for me. At least 4 a night.
The last 3 days have been very sensitive so I'm bandaging it to reduce any contact.
Well I’d say it’s going somewhere between absolutely awful and not quite as bad as I expected. I’m on day four and the sensitivity is completely awful. I can’t handle the glans directly, they’re just ultra sensitive and kinda sore too but that’s more toward the end of the day. I’m having the erections at night too and they’re beyond grim. I’m sleeping in a fetal position with a groin guard which seems to help. Starting to fear infection because the whole thing is so swollen and sensitive that the full glans still aren’t fully exposed and I’m struggling to get it fully out to allow it to soak.
Yeah the stress is not good. For me it's how it doesn't look as clean as I would like. Instinct sends my imagination all over the place. I'll have to look at groin guards online. As far as the swelling and exposure goes I really wouldn't worry about that at all. Mine looked like a can of beans for first week. Bruising should go with it too.
Hey Man that sounds normal enough the frenulum is the slowest to heal any open wounds will heal slowly with secondary wound healing the yellow fluid is lymphatic fluid can be a slight odor from it. I used to gently wash with some slightly salted water to help with infection. If it not red swollen and inflamed and painful it should be ok and not infected but if you're concerned then speak with your doctor again. All the best on you recovery 👍🏻
don’t worry mate all will be good trust me , I’m excalty one year post op, and I worried for about 4 months about it, best advice is don’t read to much about people saying do this, do that, you got to do this, you got to do that , it will heal within 2/3 weeks it was just the sensitivity with underwear that got me down for a while.
As the other replies say, what you report all sounds pretty text book, but I learnt two thing from your post and a reply: lymph smells like feet and that a groin guard may come in handy.I undergo surgery next month with bye-bye-banjo like you. While the surgeon imparts some knowledge and tips, I've found the lived experience of guys here fill in the missing gaps. These tips can help make a period of heightened anxiety seem manageable because there's a plan of action and you know what to expect.
I think the first two weeks it's all about internal wound healing and after that the external wound starts to heal too and can take up to a year or more for the look to settle. Thr fren definitely heals at a slower rate than the circ wound.
Good the GP gave you the benefit of the doubt with antibiotics as any infection would delay healing.
I asked my surg for preventative antibotics and he said no. I'm getting an antibiotic gel instead and told to dip the lad in a mug of cooled boiled water (1 teaspoon altho some add 4 which has got to sting!).
A cold compress wrapped in a towel can help reduce swelling (and before bed may help with night erections). Synthetic seamless microfibre pants can help with sensitivity and friction in the early weeks.
Re night wood, I'm trying the only thing that "may" help which appears as an ingredient in Codral/Sudafed: pseudephedrine hydrochloride. Surg seemed unconvinced but did not say no. Everyone says that the involuntary erections at night are brutal, so I'll give it a go.
Hang in there as you mark the two week mark. At that point I get my stitches taken out as my surg does not do dissolvables. The sadist!
hey man! Bit late to the party here! I’m exactly 2 weeks into post op recovery. I’m on antibiotics due to infection but I think it’s sorting itself out. Did you get dark dried blood around the incision at around 2 weeks? I’m trying to work out if this is normal!
