Loss of sensitivity/reversible circumcision

I've been following HealthUnlocked for more than a year now, and I wanted to say a big thank you to the site and to all of you guys for all the advice and concrete information I've received.

Last year, I was seriously considering circumcision (I saw 2 doctors about it) , mainly for cosmetic reasons (I don't like my rdedundant foreskin) and also regular balanitis.

But now I made up my mind thanks to the experience you guys shared. I won't do it, because it is clear that the majority of us are loosing sensitivity and pleasure after loosing the foreskin. I understand that for many of us, other important forms of pleasure/satisfaction develop in the brain (the pride of being circumcised, the feeling of being a man constantly reminded by the feeling of the naked glans against the underwear fabric etc) . But it is impossible to know in advance what the consequences would be on one's sexual pleasure.

I won't do it for now, and I still wear my rubber glans-ring from time to time to keep the foreskin rolled-up (the ring is in soft rubber and in open U shape, not a circle. I am not a doctor, but I think there is no risk of ischemia as it expands freely). So I now lost some sensitivity in my glans, I can stay an entire day with a naked, dry and clean glans and I enjoy it.

Thanks again guys!

Martin

PS: I regret that our moderator still does not allows pics. They have helped me a lot to understand better all aspects of the issue. I understand that "sexual pics" should be avoided, but there must be a way to keep them away from this wonderful site!

The positive you have found is that the foreskin is not a redundant piece of skin - it has a use. There are plenty of places on the internet that you can see pictures of penises if you want to do that and even post your own. We had one user who had harvested every penis picture posted on the site!! You have to remember that we are not doctors. They are the ones to look at your penis and diagnose any problems.

You’ve made a good decision.

Congratulations on your choice: thoughtful and deliberative. Unless medically necessary, surgery outcomes and consequences cannot be guaranteed. As an example, when I broke my ankle and needed surgery, the 3-inch incision was not reattached correctly. The scar tissue that formed was extremely painful and I needed a second surgery a year later to properly reconnect the two sides of the skin. I imagine that reattaching the inner-foreskin to the outer-foreskin would require a level of skill that most doctors don't have the time to perform in a quick procedure.

Two and a half years later after my mostly cosmetic circumcision and I'm very happy with it. Much improved orgasms and better in every way.

Everyone is different brother. This page is for medical reasons not cosmetic but glad you did not opt for surgery as by the sounds of it you don’t require surgery as it sounds like your foreskin works perfectly well. You can avoid decreased sensations if you look after your penis yes it may decrease slightly but if you moisturise it keep it soft and healthy when it’s moist you will love the sensations it offers. No one should get circumcised endless they have properly researched it. No one is guaranteed on what will and what won’t happen. The point is don’t fix something that isn’t broken enjoy your foreskin man and stay safe and well mate. On this page we have very good knowledgable people who have been through such surgeries such as myself I have been circumcised for 1 year due to medical reasons (phimosis) I keep my glans moist 24 hours 7 days a week and when it comes to stimulate the glans it offers insane sensations I’ve not tested it with a women yet though one day there is still hope for a 20 year old lad.

Circumcision should only be carried out as a last resort for medical reasons. I don’t believe in circumcisions straight away at birth or just in general like forced upon some people it’s wrong. Yes there needs to be more restrictions put in place but at the end of the day it’s the persons choice who the foreskin belongs too. And err a circumcision would benefit someone like myself who has phimosis and could never retract the foreskin so meaning before I wouldn’t feel much but now I feel more on my glans so it will offer me better sexual intercourse in the future.
