Penis still sensitive after 7 months post circumcision

I have done my circumcision on November 2020 (7 Months ago).

The back of the glans (the penis head) has healed and when I touched it or even stroke it with my thumb it doesn't hurt especially when erected, however, the front part still hurts when I stroke or swipe my thumb on it. Of course this is a sign that it hasn't healed yet.

It's been 7 months, the whole glans should be completely healed by now, can someone help me?

Changes in sensitivity, sadly, do not happen the same fir everyone. If your level of sensitivity is affecting the quality of your life then enquire of your doctor or urologist.

It’s not affecting the quality of my life, I’m very comfortable when I’m not directly touching it. Only when I stroke the front part of the head I can feel that it’s still sensitive.

I’m actually worried that I might get hurt during a sexual intercourse as my partner won’t be as careful as I am.

First, May I suggest that you talk to your partner. Second, if this is going to worry you then see a healthcare professional.

Like Osidge mentioned, just talk to your partner and mention the fact that it is still sensitive. Who knows!?! That might lead to further exploration and foreplay! I'm kind of in the same boat. Had my surgery last year and I'm still a bit sensitive but my comms with my partner is excellent and we have had loads of fun. I'm still going to ask my doctor if this is expected (the sensitivity) but I don't have a date yet to meet with him. Anyway, just my 2 cents. Good luck.

i’m so sorry to hear this i got circumcised 2 weeks ago is there tips on getting the scab underneath and all the swelling to go?

2 weeks is still very early. Make sure you wash your penis regularly(preferably everyday).

My surgeon told me to bath and dip the penis in warm water with Hibiscrub 500 ml to disinfect the penis. But overall, patience.

It didn't feel good at all, I understand you.

Are you covering your penis though? If you let it out it'll obviously be very painful.

You should cover the whole head and around the upper part of your penis with gauze swabs with A LOT of Vaseline on it; this will act as a very soft cushion for your penis.

It will hurt when you put it on though; an advise would be to do it as quick as possible and lightly press to stick the gauze dressed with Vaseline on the penis.

In addition, my surgeon gave me a kind of medium size towel to put between your covered-penis and your underwear. It might look like you are wearing a diaper and you'll limp but it will give you extra comfort.

Oh I nearly forgot, take painkillers! Not too much, do not overdose! Read the instructions.

Take the bath I told you every 2 days.

You take it off when you pee and when you bath (of course) but for the rest leave it there.

Change it every three days or even every 2 days after the bath to make sure the gauze swabs are clean in order to avoid any infections.

Do not touch the upper part of the penis when get inside the bath, just hold it from the bottom and dip it in the water and stay there for at least 10 mins.

Taking and putting the gauze off and on hurts especially taking it off, but it's worth it in the long run, you'll be much more comfortable during the night when you are sleeping.

It's not healthy, but I suggest you not to drink too much so you won't have to pee every single hour and drink before 6 a.m so you'll be less likely to have to wake up in the night to pee.

this seems very scary for me to do but your advice is amazing, by gauze swab you mean bandage right? and where would i put the vaseline, i’m so so scared, will i die from this? :( like from my circumcision

Jesse01 profile image
Jesse01 in reply to kdrbz

Yeah gauze bandages!

Put the vaseline ON the gauze on the side that will make contact with the head of the penis. The vaseline should be the thing touching the penis not the gauze or your underwear.

The gauze is just something soft and durable to put the Vaseline on and cover the upper part of the penis.

You'll suffer FAR MORE if you just let it out, as the penis will move and thrust against hard surfaces such as your underwear or your pants.

wait so am i covering the hole too? and also the swelling underneath? that’s the part that hurts the most :( i haven’t been wearing pants or anything just naked letting it rest on my balls.. it’s not comfortable due to it moving lots and i can’t sleep

Jesse01 profile image
Jesse01 in reply to kdrbz

It shouldn't be moving, that's the point. And yes, the hole too. The WHOLE part of the penis that has been cut off essentially.

I had siblings at home so I couldn't walk around the house naked, but I wore underwear and tight trousers to keep the penis as still as possible. Any movement will hurt like hell.

The whole part of the penis that has been cut off should wrapped with Vaseline and the gauze bandage.

i have siblings too but they all make way for me and know not to look... and i will try this once i get some bandages and vaseline but what should i do to sleep for now? since i can’t use anything yet :( i really wanna have a good sleep tonight

Jesse01 profile image
Jesse01 in reply to kdrbz

I'm afraid that you'll have to wait till you have the Vaseline and the bandages. I do not really have advise for sleeping with the penis out, I never done it. Try to keep it as still as possible.

Maybe wear tight underwear and pants, but this will hurt as those two have hard surfaces unlike Vaseline but at least they will keep the penis from moving around.

If you feel more comfortable with the penis out in the open you should do that.

kdrbz in reply to Jesse01

i try my best to keep it still it’s kind of impossible i have 3-4 hours maybe a night of sleep :( i really need them bandages then huh.... i am so scared i wish i never did this how long is it until i’m back to normal ? :(

It took me less than 2 months to freely touch and press my upper part of the penis but as you can see on the post, part of it is still a tiny bit sensitive, only when I strongly stroke it with thumb though.

After a week I was able to walk around only with the bandages and the towel in order to ensure no movement of the penis.

kdrbz in reply to Jesse01

i took my bandage off after a few days and i haven’t had anything on it since ... but can you walk freely and have sex and masturbate? i feel like these things will be impossible forever i feel like i’m gonna be in pain forever ...

Jesse01 profile image
Jesse01 in reply to kdrbz

Yes, I can with no problems. It won't be forever, just keep it still and disinfect it so it heal faster.

You can do it.

Jesse01 in reply to kdrbz

Yeah, you can do the bath with just water or with water mixed with the product I told you before. Just fill the bath and pour it in. Not all of it of course. Just a bit.

So remember:

1. Put your underwear and trousers on and keep them at thigh-level so you don't have to completely bend down to pull them on.

2. Wrap the whole part of your penis that has been cut off with gauze bandages dressed in Vaseline (the Vaseline should touch and cover your penis as it is a soft surface).

3. While holding the covered penis put a towel between the penis and the underwear (I suggest you to fold the towel so it can fit inside your underwear and also act as a cushion).

4. While holding the folded towel and gently pushing your penis close to your body put on the underwear and pants.

The end result should be your penis padded with Vaseline-covered gauze bandages and a folded towel basically attached to your body not moving.

that seems so complicated, i just had a normal bath just now, it feels soothed but now i’m scared of going to sleep again.. it all seems so hard to do i wish it was more simple, could you add me on snapchat and maybe show me on a drawing what you mean with the towel? if i put a dressing gown underneath the penis instead of resting on my balls would that help?

I’ve got the exact same situation just had it done 2 days ago took the dressing off but the pain is too unbearable to put any dressing over it I’ve tried but just way too sore don’t know what to do

Jesse01 profile image
Jesse01 in reply to Waggyyyyy

You have to force yourself to put some dressing on, otherwise it’s going to be hell for 2 months straight.

You should wrap your head and around the stitches with gauze pads with Vaseline Jelly on.

Of course the Vaseline should be the thing making contact with your penis not the gauze pad.
