Balanitus help!!!!

Hi,

I have been suffering from Balanitus for the last 3 years, I slept with a girl whom I believe gave me it. I have found a way to treat it with tea tree oil, coconut oil and salt water when I do have it, but it always come back when there is friction on my penis!

I also now pass it to my girlfriend when I have it in which she feels pain and is sore.

Is there a way to successfully get ride of Balanitus? I’ve been to many doctors but found my own way treating it naturally but haven’t found a way to cure it... can anyone please please help?

Hey, man. Sorry to hear about your situation.

First of, I am sort of in the same boat as you. I've had it for two years now.

I had to get circumcised almost 7 weeks ago because of it. I have seen improvement, however I feel like it will take time before it heals. But what I'd suggest to you is to get circumcised as well. Read on it and then decide whether you want to do it or not. Let your partner in on it as well and see what she thinks. The surgery will most likely prevent your balanitis reoccurrence.

On a side note, tea tree oil and coconut oil is a good mixture to use. Dilute it properly and continue applying it to your infected area. Also, I STRONGLY suggest you and your partner stop any sexual activities until the balanitis and her BV, or thrush situation has cleared out (That is what she most definitely have. If you haven't done it already, I suggest you advice her to go to a sexual health clinic and get examined ASAP). Otherwise, you just end up passing back and forth to each other.

As I said, I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I'm speaking from a very familiar and agonising experience haha.

Best of luck! Keep us updated :)

Most PROBABLY has BV, or thrush. I am no doctor. I truly wish you two well!

You need to find out what exactly is causing your balanitis. While your “natural” remedy helps it is obviously not getting rid of it. Has any doctor taken skin swabs to see what is going on on your glans? Might you have diabetes?

I do not have diabetes, going to see a private doc in a few weeks.

I don’t need links to sites explaining what Balanitis is I’ve done a lot of research on it.

Like I said friction is the main cause, I’ve had swabs and tests done but everything comes up clean, hopefully a private doc can be of more help!

I am sorry that you have not got someone to tell you what you wanted to hear. You might be grateful that someone answered your post! We try to help but we are not doctors. I hope your upcoming consultation with a private doctor confirms your self-diagnosis.

I appreciate your reply but a link to the NHS website is a bit obvious as I’ve read so much on it and been to GP’s hence why I will go private!

On a support forum you will always get what people have to offer on the information provided. Take care.

Experience tells me it is not always the best as you have no way of knowing whether another guy’s problem is identical to yours. Something to think about.

Balanitis is typically caused by a yeast infection, however it can be due to a bacterial or viral infection. It's not contagious. Balanitis may be itchy or uncomfortable but often feels normal. Balanitis is not sexually transmitted. Men do not 'catch' balanitis from women with vaginal thrush, or vice versa. Balanitis results from excessive growth of organisms which are normally present on the skin of the glans.

Yes but from what I’ve read those organisms can be past back and forth leading to soreness/irritation and redness?

Blanitis is an inflimation of the penis which is cause either by infection or an irritant. the friction is causing the inflammation responce. I've had non specific balanitis (inflammation) for 3 yrs after going through the countless infections and creams and rx that destroyed my skin. I've been in your shoes. Stop masturbating and having sex. Give yourself a break to heal and stop irritating it. Try to keep you head uncovered over night to give it a break. And apply coconut oil to sooth the burning.

Hi, can yours be passed on to your sexual partner? And how did you actually get it?

Hey, It may be passed on IF it is infection related (bacterial or fungal) but highly unlikely. You are probably just becoming irritated to wtv normal bugs are on your penis and your wife vagina like I did. During my 3 yrs I had everything. Once it started getting irritated then the infections started and the cycle continued till I just stopped all prescription creams which was making it worse. My penis just became highly irritated to anything for no reason. I had every test done and all was negative. My doctor said I became sensetive to the natural flora of my penis so I was reacting like I had an infection where really there was none. I got circumcision 2 months ago cuz my foreskin became tight. You can still save yours, be patient and just leave your penis rest for a few months. Try applying aquaphor and coconut oil on it daily to sooth it and stop jerking it and no sex. I know its difficult but let it rest buddy.

Did the circumcision help? I have been using coconut oil daily and when I masturbate also before sex and I haven’t had balantis for a few months, if I don’t use coconut oil it will come back for sure

It's still too early to tell for my circumcision. I was feeling pretty good for a few weeks but this past week It became sore and irritated. I've been putting the coconut oil on the incision and its helping. Could take up to 1 yr to heal. If your irritation is under control with the oil dont stop also use condoms during sex to protect your penis.
