I was told no baths but could shower the next day but also need other things to say wait 48 hours so abit confused, as for cleaning do I use like sterile wipes ? Or just soo penis into a jug of warm water etc I really have no idea and wasn’t giving much info from hospital other than no baths or shower gells with fragrance in them, I was expecting a leaflet or something with loads of info, any help would be appreciated sorry if this has been answered already I’m new to the forum but thanks to reading many things on this forum I finally decided after years of putting it off to get this done so this forums been great help

Blood is ok. May continue to spot bleed for up to 3 days. After/ during shower remove bandage let the water help u remove bandage so bandage doesn't get stuck to dry blood or stitches. After shower. After ur completely dry u can put a new bandage if u want

hiya I can recommend warm salt-water baths which really helped me - no gels or such in the shower (I waited 2 weeks) but I did use antibacterial cleanser in shower - salt water bath great for healing - good luck - it gets better and you will never look back

stitches should dissolve or fall off so what you mention is normal/ok

thanks for the reply I was so worried last night and panicking because I was only just had it done like hours ago and that happened, you think it’s ok to keep gauze on the head area few days after ? Doctor said just take it off later that day but I prefer to keep or replace it with new gauze just helps, how was you before and after your circumcision? Do you regret anything ?

i think I removed the gauze about 3 days after the procedure - and for a while I dressed it again. To protect the area when I was walking. If you use a salt water bath the gauze almost removes itself with a little encouragement. I had other complications after the op which delayed my healing, but it does get better. Take it steadily and trust the healing process. Erections, sex even the look of it takes getting used to etc and feel different but gradually things settle down and normalise. The first weeks ate tough but be patient and you will get through it

I disagree, my surgeon and tons of medical forums say not to submerge for first 2 weeks as can cause infection

yeah I was told I could take a shower the day after. I used indented bar soap and was ver careful. Frenulum being swollen and super bloody looking was the same, that took the longest to heal. Don’t be alarmed if a few stitches came off earlier than supposed to, the doc told me it will still heal up normal, and it did

I showered maybe 2 s days after surgery. Had to build the confidence to look at what I go myself into. Great decision though.

ok that’s good to know cause that had me worried last night, I’ve been putting Vaseline on the head to stop it sticking I’ve already had a look it like a mess blue and black and so swollen scary to look at but I new to expect this, this forum has been a godsend as before this all I read online was horrible stuff about circumcision and was the reason I always put it off, so you still have your frenulum they removed mine dunno why tbh maybe was too much of a mess because my foreskin was covered in white scars and very tight it was a mess, how long until you could do normal stuff again ? My job is a heavy lifting job I deliver frozen food in a big van and I have only taken. Week off, how were you after a week?

yeah my foreskin was trapping too much moisture no matter how much I tried keeping it bry. Causing rashes on my head. Honestly I don’t remember how I felt. I think I remember taking 2 weeks before getting back to work. I asked my doc to keep my frenulum, he did but he could have shaved it down some. Kind of sticks out. If I knew it was gonna look this way I would have just chopped it off. Maybe in the future I will scale it down. You can use Neosporin to help heal. And bio oil to help get rid of the scar

DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER for first 2-3 days!!! When shower just let the water run over it DO NOT SCRUB. Lather up ur hands or towel real good and then cover it in the lather a few times and if u want gently tap the incision with ur finger instead of scrubbing. For first 1-2 weeks

thanks for the info when I have a shower I’m just gonna let it hit my belly and keep my genitals covered with my hands until I feel more comfortable, what about getting a jug of warm water with soap and dipping it into it ?

NO. DO NOT SUBMERGE for first 1-2 weeks

I keep waking up with fresh blood and I dunno if this is normal I think it might be because of night time erections, I’m on day 2

I noticed today when I was changing dressing that the side were the stitch came out is bleeding fresh blood it’s the only part that has fresh blood the rest is fine, should I be worried by this ?

Edit the blood has dried in final in that area phew massive relief

I'd be wary taking primary aftercare advice from here because it all depends on the type of sutures or staples that hv been used in your case. The different circ techniques require slightly different aftercare. I'd contact your circ provider for written aftercare instructions.
