Petroleum jelly works like protecting layer on wound. It also prevents gauze or bandage not to stuck in wound (dried discharge). There will be a new thin layer of skin on wound and it won't any help if it peeled off every time when you remove your bandage or take of your undies. If you use some ointment by your doctor. Spread it to first layer near the wound.

When use gauze on bandage on wound you protect it from friction and dehiscense. The temperate on wound bed stays more optimal than without gauze. It's winter now in South-Africa.

The idea of moist wound healing (not wet) is not to have any scab on wound. The wound will heal better without it.

The frenulum area will heal last anyway.

Do whatever you doctor ask you to use. You never said what is the other ointment? Like I said if you put petroleum jelly (Vaseline) first the other ointment won't get the wound area.

Maybe you can ask the clinic what you got? It could be like povidone iodione (Betadine), Dexpanthenol, honey..?

Yeah i think its betadine cause when i put it ,it’s strong for the wound site😭

You better visit the clinic or hospital for regular dressing. This will help and everything will be take care by them. I did the same. No fear of infection or any deforming
