9 days after circumcision, is healing okay?

Nine days after circumcision I was wondering if this is okay and when I can expect the stitches to come off? If its noticable theres a little bulge on the right side of the shaft that is a bit swollen and is still a bit painful when I touch it is that okay?

Looks better than mine does after 9 months. The surgeon really is important. Your surgeon used maybe half the stitches mine did and they look to be stitched much looser. You're lucky. Was it done privately? The stitches can most likely be taken out within 3 days. Looks well healed just be careful not to put any tension on the scar yet.

Your penis is looking very good for 9 days post circumcision.

The stitches do their job in 10-12 days and it is best to remove any that are remaining after 14 days. Your regular doctor (or his nurse) can do this, or you can do it for yourself.

Remember that full healing usually takes 6-8 weeks, so the swelling will gradually subside.

Looks good and the healing isn’t bad. The stitches should dissolve usually by 3 weeks.

I just spoke to my doc about a knot in mine and he said that i have to soak in a warm bath and massage the area and it will go down. If that doesn't work you should reach back out to your urologist so she/he can take a look.

Thank you I'll try definitely try that

also the stitches will dissolve the more you take showers the quicker they seem to fall away and dissolve in the skin. Until swelling goes down it will hurt but ice and light wrap around it does help when in the swelling stage also ask your urologist what type of stitches you got because some of them are more durable than others and take longer to dissolve.

Surgical stitches are NOT disolved by water. They are ONLY consumed by enzymes brought to the site of the wound by your lymph supply.

It doesn't matter how much you bath or shower, the stitches will not come out any sooner.

My urologist actually informed me that the constant warm shower will stimulate the skin allowing for that process to be quicker. I was informed to take them consistent for the reasons of remaining clean of course but also to quicken the process. That was straight from the urologist and it actually worked. Of course at first you can't soak but after advised you can take warm baths. They recommended the shower though.

That may ideed happen, but the water does not disolve the stitches and some people may find no benefit. However, it is right for you to follow the medical advice given to you personally.

That is Correct the water itself doesn't dissolve them.

Looks decent. Healing takes time

Looks like it’s healing well and almost identical to mine that was done by NHS in UK, i.e. position of cut and number of stitches. My stitches dropped off by themselves between three and five weeks. I did trim the trailing ends off a couple of them though for comfort. Good luck with yours.

You had yours for 4 weeks and have no stitch tunnels?

in reply toCuriousQ

Yes correct, I have feint stitch marks but no tunnels.

I actually disagree with the opinion held by some that stitches must be removed to avoid stitch tunnels. I assume the majority of patients likely don't interfere and allow the stitches to be absorbed and drop off in their own time. Therefore if stitch tunnels was a genuine issue this forum would be full of guys asking how to get rid of them. Clearly it isn't.

I'm thinking it happens when the surgeon sutures too tightly. But I'm not sure.

in reply toCuriousQ

Stitch tension caused by over-tight suturing or local swelling restricts blood supply and may contribute to stitch marks on the scar line. The tunnels are more like pierced ear lobes, holes that haven’t resealed.

Hi Man125, You have a very nice looking circumcision. Cut is very circular. Did the doctor use a clamp to achieve the circular cut? Healing is fine. Stitches should come out - see your doctor. Your surgeon did an excellent job of removing your foreskin. Thanks for posting.

Is it a ZSR circumcision?

Man125 profile image

Not quite sure didn't go into details with my Doctor about the procedure.

in reply toMan125

How are you now have you totally healed?

in reply toYourZ123

I wouldn’t think it was a ZSR because there are stitches .

Yeah the healing is perfect, I never had any complications and a few days after my post, the stitches started coming off on their own.

Stitches usually 10 days - I suspect these are non-dissolving. Were any clamps involved? The cut line is very circular. Your surgeon did an excellent job of removing your foreskin.
