Suggestions for scar care where secondary healing has happened

Hi Guys,

So I'm 11 months post cut and I had stitches burst which was left to secondary healing. It's left an unsightly red bump almost on the scar in that area. I've been using bio-oil since healing and vitamin e oil for about 3 weeks but I'm still not seeing alot of progress in that area. Does anyone have reccomendations of other scar oils/creams which have helped? The rest of my scar is reducing quite alot and I'm happy with it, this area is at the top of the shaft and is very noticeable to myself..

I would say that in my opinion what you are doing is sufficient but you may wanna follow up with your doc since he would have a much better idea. Secondary healing takes quite long so you might have to be patient . Warm baths help to reduce inflammation and speed up healing by increasing blood flow to the area. Also having a diet rich in Vit C , iron and zinc could be beneficial esp for wound healing so you might wanna discuss it as well with your doc! All the best ! Cheers !

Thanks for the reply bud. I wasn't overly sure how long the healing would take to settle in that area, but I've recently started taking my iron supplements again so hopefully that should help, I take a dissolvable vitamin c tablet every morning as well. I'm proud of my scar either way I see it as a success story for me and its given me my sex life back. Thanks again!

Have heard that for some people the incision site evens out even more and sets in well in 1-2 years so really hope it works out for you mate. Honestly I think you are doing a great job and glad that you are happy ! The scar is definitely pride worthy =) . Cheers and all the best !
