Hey, the stitches can be slow to dissolve if you soak in some salted water it should help to break down the stitches if they don't start to go in a week have them removed you don't want stitch marks or tunnels. your glans are probably peeling if that's what you mean by dry (photo) that is normal as well when your stitches are out and your scar is healed start using some bio oil to soften the scar

Nope, just be patient, should see progress in a week or so and can take five weeks to complete.

PS. If anyone suggests having them taken out just ask yourself if you really want to go through that discomfort?

“There is no discomfort” You don’t know that, you haven’t been circumcised.

Your stitches will dissolve under the surface of your skin as your body reacts to them. Their remains on the surface will then fall away. The time it takes for this to happen varies from person to person, we’re all different, so no one can say precisely how long it’ll take to complete. Soaking them is harmless but makes no difference to the timescale. Be patient, it’ll be fine.

I've been washing with sea salt twice a day. I guess I'll up it to 3. Thanks

Yes, the second link has a good summary (that appears to contradict the first):

[quote]

medicinenet.com/stitches/ar...

If the laceration requires layered closures in which it will not be possible to remove the sutures, dissolvable suture material may be used. Polyglycolic, polyglactic acid, poliglecaprone, and polyglyconate (Maxon) may be considered. Other materials may include silk or catgut (chromic). Depending upon the type of material and the circumstances, absorbable suture may take from 3 weeks to 3 months to dissolve.

[end]

I think your third link was possibly an error as it’s off topic?
