I have had the same, and for me it was dryness. You may want to speak with your doctor just in case as we are all different. Likely if it only happens at those times, it's dryness.
me too. I am 63 and definitely understand. My gyn recommended a lubricant, I can’t remember name but it was hypoallergenic and fragrance free. Ask gyn because some of the products can cause irritation. Good luck, it’s worth it. I am not at home this week so I can’t tell you the name but dr will check you and recommend something. It’s part of menopause but I am so happy not getting a period or awful menstrual migraines.
you might want to talk to your doctor about vaginal oestrogen. That increases lubrication but is only local.
Re Mona Lisa treatment recommended above. It is only available privately and very expensive. I had a private gynie who was desperate to sell this to me, when I didn't need it. Just be careful, there are a lot of docs out there who want to make money.
The 'Yes' range of lubricants are water based and work well. If you see a GP they may give you a topical HRT cream to help but I can't use HRT so I don't know how effective it is.
Topical estrogen is supposed to be very safe. I was using it. Then breast cancer hit. Oncologists wanted me off all estrogen, even though gynecologists say not necessary - that it doesn't have systematic effect. Tried Mona Lisa laser. Doesn't help every one, but has been great for me - much better than topical estrogen. Nevertheless, if one has a mild case of vaginal atrophy, the general recommendation is to try vaginal moisturizers first.
