I’m new here and have a question. I’m now 58 and had my last period when I was 49. I have been suffering hot flushes ever since. My hair is very thin on top which I’m not sure if connected. I’m also taking steroids for another unrelated condition (PMR) I have never taken HRT due to it linked to cancer. The problem I’m having is I can’t bare much more of the hot flushes! I don’t know what to do or if I should now consider HRT. I’ve kept going telling myself it will be over soon but it’s been 9 years with no end in site☹️

I went on HRT 4 years ago to help with hot flushes, sleeplessness and aches and pains. It certainly helped, no more hot flushes within days. There’s a lot of info on Menopause Matters website. Read up on it and if you think it’s for you, have a chat with your gp or nurse practitioner, there’s lots of different options. I can’t see me ever coming off hrt.
Thank you for your reply! I have tried all of these except the exercise due to having severe arthritis (awaiting hip replacement) and the HRT as there is cancer in my family ☹️……. Just been going through the hot flashes for 8/9 years now and wondering how much longer they will go on!?
Hi I'm 63 and have been post menopause for 11 years. I was ok for a while and then had hot flushes where I thought I'd spontaneously combust! I have fibro, spinal probs and just generally no energy. I've started on patches, taking a prebiotic and magnesium just this last week. I do feel brighter and 'touch wood' no hot glushes do far x
