I'm in the U.S. and we don't call our estrogen vaginal cream Ovestin. We call it Estradiol. I think it's the same thing but with a different name. I needed it at the age of 46 but I didn't realize it until age 51. I had really bad vaginal atrophy and when I started using the cream it burned and caused pain. I had to use it for three months before things started improving. I didn't use it every night but I used it three nights per week. I now use 1 gram three times a week. I don't notice a lot of moisture improvement but it did take away the burning with urination. I also have hypertonic pelvic floor muscles from all the pain I've experienced in my vagina over the years due to UTI's and vaginal atrophy. So now I'm trying to treat my pelvic floor muscles with physical therapy. I would say you might need more time to see results.

I suffered with dryness , eventually after painful sex and constantly getting UTI’s and thrush went to the doctors who prescribed vaginal HRT.

What an improvement.

Stopped me waking up at night for the toilet too as a sensitive bladder was also an unpleasant side effect of the menopause.

sorry to hear your struggle. I’ve heard that it can take a while to improve if you’ve been without estrogen for a while. My friend was told it may take 6 months as she’d been menopausal for a few years. I hope that helps. There are also pessaries that you could try if you feel the cream isn’t helping so maybe ask about them. I hope your situation improves soon.

Hi

Try and see if your GP will prescribe Vagifem. This helped me.

Best wishes
