Hot sweats and panic attacks

Hi I’m new to this platform .

Does any one have any suggestions on how to reduce menopausal hot sweats . I am 54 and was diagnosed at 48 with the menopause.

I have asked the doctors about HRT , but they don’t recommend it. The hot sweats are making my anxiety worse and sometimes affecting my ability to do normal everyday things .

Hi Sugarcraft why did they not recommend it. Lots of women have HRT, can you talk to a different doctor. I would say look up dr Louise Newson she is a specialist in this area she also has a book too and an app, Balance. Get your self all the information you can and go back. Good luck

Thank you , I will try a different doctor , this one wouldn’t prescribe it as i was informed it wasn’t long enough yet ,and it wouldn’t help much.

There is a video on YouTube by Davina McCall on menopause. Dr.'s are not required in medical school to learn about menopause and how to treat it. I suffered 7years needlessly. I had to educate myself and demand to be treated. The HRT that is available now is safe and very necessary. Also check out Dr.Louise Newson she is from UK and a big proponent on HRT.

Hi Sugarcrafter, I agree with the advice above regarding where to get info from (women's health concern and menopause library (Louise Newson).

I'm fortunate to have a few GPs at my surgery who have done women's health training and was prescribed HRT as soon as I asked for it, it really helps me with anxiety. I've also referred myself for CBT but I expect the waiting list is long.

Good luck x
