Hello, over the summer I tested my hormones during my luteal phase. I also have an underactive thyroid too which I know can cause low progesterone. A bit about my symptoms: I have low moods, tiredness, vaginal dryness, no libido, a three week cycle, heavy periods. My GP has prescribed me a estrogen based pessary but I wondered if I needed progesterone? Due to meet my GP in a week.

Perimenopausal questions
Hi auntbessie. It sounds like you have been prescribed only the oestrogen that is inserted in to the vagina which is a local oestrogen so you won’t need progesterone.
You could probably do with some other HRT treatment, and I’m not sure of your age but testing your hormones can be a waste of time as they can fluctuate so much after the age of 45.
🤔 You need to have a chat with your GP…as to how this pessary will help the symptoms you mention.
Localised Vaginal Estrogen
Women who have symptoms of vaginal dryness, soreness, itch, pain on intercourse, passing urine more often, recurrent urinary tract infection and getting up to pass urine in the night can benefit from the use of vaginal estrogen. These symptoms result from a lack of estrogen in the tissues of the bladder, vagina, vulva and pelvic floor and together are called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause. By using estrogen in the vagina as a tablet, gel, pessary, cream or ring, these symptoms can be relieved. Only a tiny amount of estrogen is absorbed into the body so no progestogen is required.

HRT …may be considered more helpful..but maybe it isn’t an option for you 🤔
It is possible for you to be in Perimenopause at your age..but maybe difficult to confirm given your Thyroid diagnosis.
