Does HRT estrogen patch and progesterone pill cause weight gain?

So now my big question is does HRT cause weight gain? See now my doctor changed her mind and she is going to let me do the estrogen patch and take the progesterone pill. But I am terrified because I've never been on hormone replacement therapy and I am a person who has had anorexia for over 25 years so weight gain is the thing that I fear more than anything in the world. Can anyone tell me did HRT cause you to gain weight and if so how much?

Oh thank God. I'm hoping that that will be my experience with it, is that it won't cause any weight gain. Both the doctor and pharmacist said some people it does and some people it doesn't so they just said it is a possibility but I'm just praying that I'll be one of those people that it doesn't cause any weight gain.

if you look up menopausal not mad web site it explains why we gain weight as we go through menopause and peri. But basically we don’t burn as many calories so need to eat less and our muscle mass deteriorates so we also burn less as well. Start doing strength training to help keep your muscle mass up and maybe up your protein intake

Oh well my cause isn't actually perimenopause or menopause. The reason that I'm going with the hot flashes is that my body is not producing estrogen because I have anorexia and I don't my body won't turn on that signal to produce estrogen from my pituitary because I am malnourished and underweight. I am also severely disabled and in chronic pain so I cannot exercise at all.
