Hello everyone,

Mencap has been approached by research company Ipsos UK to help find family members or carers of somebody with a learning disability who make car journeys together.

Ipsos UK, is an independent research organisation and have been asked by the government to do research to understand the experiences of people with a learning disability when making journeys on motorways and A- roads in England.

This conversation will be with a researcher from Ipsos UK and will last up to an hour. All responses will be confidential and anonymous. Participants will each receive a £50 voucher as a thank you for taking part.

Ipsos are looking for 9 participants, so there is a chance you may not be selected to take part in this research. Ipsos are hoping to speak to a range of people, which includes those who can drive, those who make journeys as a passenger and carers. They are looking forward to hearing back from you.

If you would like to be involved, please email niamh.neale@ipsos.com

Excellent question. It is disappointing that the purpose is not clearly explained in the first instance.

Hi Staffielover3 apologies that wasn't initially made clear.

The main purpose is to gather insights so National Highways can help to make motorways and main roads more accessible for people with a learning disability and their families who are travelling with them. This could be improving access of signs, service stations, etc. The findings from the research will be used to influence Department for Transport and government policy. Hope that helps. 🙂
