Hello everyone 🦋

It’s almost 10:00pm, and I am looking at my calendar.. 9 days until his awake craniotomy.. although I am happy we are getting out all of whatever it is that is in that empty (or should be empty) cavity, all the emotions are coming back that are familiar from the first one.

Steroids have taken a toll on Ryan. His feet in the last few days were ungodly swollen. To the point where I almost took him to the hospital if we had not gotten them down in the time we did. It seemed like if I took a pin; his feet would explode like some horror movie. Luckily there was no numbness, redness, or even pale color to them. So I assumed no infection. But my god, I’ve had a child and my ankles hadn’t swelled like that. It was a frightening sight. They have gone back down to normal (our normal is still swollen, but an acceptable amount of swollen because of fluid retention) and he seems okay otherwise.

Again, no new pains, no new weird lesions etc. seizures have been at bay *knocking on wood*

We have pre op on Friday; MRI day before so they can use it as GPS mapping essentially so they know exactly where they are going once they are in.

Here we go again y’all. ❤️ I will continue to keep everyone updated. September 20th is the surgery, and I’ll update when he is sleeping; he slept a lot the first two days. We were discharged in an impressive amount of time the last go around, 4 days if I’m not mistaken.

Much love to all ❤️

Kelly,

It is a mixed blessing to be an experienced and repeat procedure caregiver.

Ryan has a champion in you.

Remind us which hospital will do the craniotomy?

You are in my prayers as I know how the anxiety can build the closer it comes to a day like Friday. I am usually much improved once my foot is in the door on the day the actions finally get going. Being intentional, but recognizing that we can only do as much as we can to manage anxiety, is hoped for you and Ryan both.

Peace,

missy
