SEPTEMBER RACES/EVENTS? WANT A POMPOM CHEER? COME HERE WITH THE DETAILS ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐ŸŽฝ๐Ÿ…

Itโ€™s time to give us details of your races for September.

Iโ€™ve looked at last year and it looked pretty busy so I expect the same this year with lots of fab events deserving of a pompom flourish and loads of cheers for you before the Big Day!!

Any distance, any location, any country, we want them all. Fun runs, muddy runs, first time races, regular dates, new challenges, virtual events, anything and everything deserves a pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand to get you on your way. Youโ€™ll do the training and your VRBs will do the whooping and waving and all you have to do is turn up at the start line and end up at the finish line and it doesnโ€™t matter what happens in between ๐Ÿ™‚

So, give us the name and date of your event plus a link to the website. Tell us a little about it and anything in particular youโ€™d like us to mention in our pompom post. Maybe why you have chosen this particular event? Does it mean something personal to you or do you just like the look of the bling? ๐Ÿคฉ

Weโ€™ll put the details on the attached spreadsheet and then thatโ€™s where weโ€™ll go when itโ€™s time to give you a pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand.

Good luck with your training and rest up well too. Youโ€™ve got this! ๐Ÿ’ช

From your team Beachcomber66 , linda9389 and me xxx

I have ran a 10K once every month this year except March when I ran two, the fastest was in June in a time of 70 minutes and 40 seconds, the August 10K was yesterday in a time of 71 minutes and 30 seconds, the September 10K will be the Cumbernauld 10K and in October I am booked to run the 10K version of The Great Scottish run, there is also a Half Marathon as well but I am only doing the 10K

Hey Irishprincess ! My first contribution here for ages. I impulse booked to run the Worcester City 10k this morning. How did I become this person? I decided I fancied a birthday treat run and I really liked the look of it. A lot of the route seems to go along the river.

Sep 15th, details hereโ€ฆ

Congrats on your amazing half by the way!

Itโ€™s the thing that keeps me running to the end ๐Ÿ˜Š. I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s a buttercream cup cake or doughnut for my September half ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Year before last it was a cupcake but I was decidedly off colour so my small relative polished it off. It was an iced doughnut last year which really hit the spot ๐Ÿ˜‹. I never eat doughnuts ๐Ÿ˜

Hi ย Irishprincess ๐Ÿ™‚

Iโ€™ll be doing the vitality 10k on the 22nd of September in London.

vitalitylondon10000.co.uk

I did it last year as my first ever organised race, itโ€™s big (c15,000 people) which although bonkers, suited me as I just really didnโ€™t want to be last! I also appreciated it being local as I live in London. Despite a weird sprain/strain that appeared week before (maranoia, I was told) I managed to get around, didnโ€™t hate it and signed up for this year.

Iโ€™m feeling nervous, but have been running steadily for the past year. I have been really consistent in my pace and times so not expecting a better time but hoping not to be much worse. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ

Irishprincess profile image
IrishprincessAdministratorHalf Marathon in reply to ReyC

Brilliant! This is a popular event for our VRBs so I expect others to say they are running it too.

Hiya IP! TailChaser and I have a couple of big runs in September.

8th = bedfordrunfest.co.uk/bedfor...

The 20 miles route

The stats say this has a 59ft elevation gain over the measured distance of 20.19 miles

Good practice for...

29th - Berlin Marathon ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช on its 50th anniversary!

bmw-berlin-marathon.com/en/

The 26.2 mile route has 241ft of elevation gain making it the flattest of the 6x world majors.

What a brilliant idea, a 20 mile run in a lead up to a marathon. Great timing for you guys.

Berlin is going to be amazing with its anniversary celebrations! I canโ€™t wait to read all about it ๐Ÿฟ

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserMarathon in reply to Irishprincess

We did a 20 mile race before Amsterdam last year and it really helps mentally. You also get the chance to try out all your kit and fuelling. I would recommend it to anyone prepping for a marathon if theyโ€™ve not got much experience of them.

We had details of the after party for Berlin today: limitless food, beer and wine! It sounds incredible if we can stay awake ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™ll see what my tummy says too Decker. I tried Maurten yesterday for the first time, as theyโ€™re handing that out. No ill effects apart from a dent in my bank account ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Decker profile image
DeckerUltramarathon in reply to TailChaser

Last year there was a full table of Maurten. No one was taking them so I took a few. They pulled me through the end when my stomach could not take any more xact gel bars

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserMarathon in reply to Decker

Thatโ€™s useful to know. It was pretty good, weirdly jelly like, easy to open and no sticky hands. All that sugar and carbs though, it is a bit much after a while isnโ€™t it? ๐Ÿคข

Decker profile image
DeckerUltramarathon in reply to TailChaser

Yeah the gut just locks after too much of it. Iโ€™ve been experimenting with getting more carbs in through liquids so its not all gels

TailChaser profile image

I have to say I prefer it that way too. I usually use Tailwind and that seems to do me ok. I find it really difficult to stay hydrated and fuelled any other way.

Hi IP,

Here is my list for September:

8th - I'm in the New Forest with the gang, I'm doing the 10k.

15th - I'm not riding but am organising the Autumn Challenge for my Ladies Cycling Club (Women on Wheels). This is a members day with 4 routes all starting and ending at a village hall where there is lots of coffee and cake. Riders can opt to do one route (the shortest is 15 miles) or up to three (a total of 60 miles). My job is to keep tabs on everyone in and out, to make cups of coffee and make sure we don't run out of cake! I'm H&S officer too. We will be recceing the courses during the week beforehand, so lots of peddling to do. We just have our fingers crossed that the weather is kinder than when we tried to do it in the spring and it rained... a lot!

29th - Stage 9 of the Cotswold Way Walk from Wotton under Edge to Hawkesbury Upton. Organised by RJFitness and Coaching. About 10 miles.

rjfitness.co.uk/booking/#/e...

I had half a mind to do the Warwick Sportive on the 21st, but I've just checked the website and it's sold out! That will teach me to fanny about!!!

I am away on the 29th, otherwise I might have come to support you as thatโ€™s not far from my part of the world. Nice one ๐Ÿ‘

Oldfloss profile image

Can I add this? Not sure. as I am doing a Virtual one...the Spitfire Run.... 10K?

It should have been at RAF Cosford, where I did the first one... but major works on the runway etc there, have meant, no date could be arranged as the alternative to the original one. So, they have put up a virtual one.

We have been able to download a pilot's details who we are running for.

I am not sure on the day yet... but am thinking that if it is sunny, as forecast on Sunday 1st... I may do the run, appropriately I feel, on the site of the old aerodrome, where many, many young pilots were trained. It is now a housing estate, but with wonderful green spaces, especially where all the RAF buildings were...

It is one of my routes that I use when i am not on my fields and seems an evocative place to run. A lot of uphill which I enjoy and a lot of downhill, which I enjoy also, on the way back!

Irishprincess profile image

Thanks, IP(and no worries)! Being in London makes it pretty easy to find a race.

Hi Irishprincess

I am rather late, sorry! I am running with Squiggy ๐Ÿถ on Sunday 15th. Dulverton Fun Run and Canicross, we are doing the 10km. I have done the event once before, set in a beautiful Exmoor village . There is a very steep climb at the beginning- I will walk that! Then the route goes along a high ridge with lovely views, through fields and eventually back down to the village ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ My first event for 3 years so looking forward to it.

Hi IP, Sorry I am always late to the party! I am doing the Cider run here the week after next Sept 28:

5peaks.com/cider-run-uxbridge

I chose the 21k route with some friends I have not seen in a while. Should be a fun day with a glass (or two) of Cider and a custom glass you can keep. This will be my cutback week after my 40k training run for the Oct 50k, so I am looking forward to just enjoying it. Happy running everyone!

Running for cider! Sounds fab Decker. And I love those different distances too. I wish we did more of those here.

You gottaโ€™ have incentive! ๐Ÿ˜‚ These races are very popular for the distances and the mix of great swag they offer.

Very late to the game here. I've been plagued by injuries over the past couple of months but have decided to go for it:

28th September - Generali 5K

bmw-berlin-marathon.com/en/...

29th September - Berlin marathon

bmw-berlin-marathon.com/en/

I'm running the marathon for the National Autistic Society.

I've had to radically adjust my expectations and I have one goal which is just to finish.

Sorry to hear about your injuries but keeping everything crossed for you. Thatโ€™ll be quite an adventure over the two days! Hope it all goes well.
