At last I got to do my run today! I decided to incorporate a parkrun into it and headed for Woking on an early train.
The plan was to find my way from Woking Railway station to the park, running a few km before doing the 5k parkrun then carry on running around until I reached the magic 10k.
I use Google Maps talking in my ear to get around but today it seemed to be taking me on a strange route so I asked directions of a couple of chaps who were wearing running gear. One of my tactics for getting to a new parkrun is to follow anyone dressed in running gear and I have not been arrested so far. These chaps were not going to the parkrun π€¦πΌββοΈ but one of them very kindly said, come along Iβll show you the way. How kind!
So we ran and soon arrived in the beautifully maintained park. I thanked my fellow runner as he went back to whatever he was doing before I interrupted his morning. The sun was shining and a few other runners started appearing, so true to form I followed them until we reached the start area. As it was only about 08:40 I had a little run around exploring the park a bit (lots of little bridges over streams and ornate shrubbery, very nice). I had to pause my watch to hear the first timers talk and then the RD talk but just after 9am we were off.
My parkrun time was 31:45 which I was pleased with but I still had about 3k to do to reach the 10k mark. So I ran around a bit more then headed back to the railway station.
Had to take two trains to get back home and the second of these had standing room only, packed in like the proverbial sardines, as it seemed the population of London was headed to the south coast for Bank Holiday weekend and half term. Got talking to one of my fellow sardines who apparently used to do parkrun a lot.
I then ran the 3km from my local station to home. A most enjoyable morning. I hadnβt run this much for quite a few weeks but I really enjoyed it. Thank you very much to all the admins for organising this. I feel I am finally back on track because of the encouragement and support this HU community brings.
My moving time totalled 1:20:26 with elapsed time being 1:32:18

how exciting, I love the way you find anyone in running gear on a Saturday morning fair game for asking directions, I do that too!! I came back from parkrun in Bournemouth on a very crowded bus very aware I was not particularly fragrant, I bet your crowded train was the same π€£π€£
Ingenious ! Wrapping all of those runs together to make 10k and putting a train journey in the middle. If we choose the winner based on the most imaginative run, youβre a cert.
Truth is, everyone who signed up is a winner, even those who have been thwarted by injury. There are quite a few βcomebacksβ in there too. Really good to see.
I donβt really mind that you beat my 5k time by 11 seconds π. I know my place β¦β¦β¦π
That sounds like great fun. Chatting with fellow runners and a fellow sardine plus a very novel 10km incorporating a speedy park run too. You had me chuckling which I always enjoy π
Such an adventurer Mudita11 ! I love how you flit around. Iβm not sure Iβd be as brave as you! Whereas I love PR tourism, theyβre all by way of my trusty car and satnav! π
Well done on your DIY 10k; such a fabulous and fun way to do it! Congratulations. π
Gosh, what an adventure! All you needed was a plane and you could have made a film π€£
I know what you mean about talking to people dressed in their running kit. I did that once, asked a chap in running gear where a certain running shop was but he didn't know!!!
