So I began Tim's Run at exactly 8am, 16 minutes before sunrise, temperature 7C, nice bright morning, by 3K the sun had risen on what was my ever longest run, the first 2 kilometers were around the park very near to where I live, I then ran along a few very quiet streets, over the M80 motorway and around a pond which is exactly 1K in length, I often run around this pond 3 times on a Saturday morning as a 3K maintenance run when I don't go to parkrun, however, today I only ran around it once, after that I then ran on my normal 5K /10K course around Broadwood Loch, at 10 miles /16K I ran back the route I had come, at 18K I was back in the park near to where I live and continued until the Half Marathon distance was completed, my time was 2:57:15 which I am a little disappointed with, 3 weeks ago I ran just short of a half marathon 20:59K in a time of 2:45:02 seconds, but as everyone knows long runs do vary a lot, despite the time I kept smiling while running and I dedicate that run, my only Half Marathon to the late great Tim.

lovely post AlMorr - well done on your run too ππ»
well done AL Morr on the HM. No need to be disappointed , brill and what an achievement to have under your belt. Tim would be proud of you. π
Thanks Doris8, I am sure Tim would have been proud of me, I was comparing my time to the almost HM I ran 3 weeks ago, strangely if I had ran that HM as my midweek run on a Wednesday my time might have been faster, as you know I usually go a 12K walk on a Sunday morning but as today was a very special day I ran that HM in memory of the late great Tim and dedicated the run to him.
Congratulations Al on your first half marathon and look best run yet, a very tiring tribute to Tim who will be in our thoughts each time we runKeep running, keep smiling
well done on your first HM AlMorr! ππΌππΌππΌ
Lovely post, and a fitting tribute to Tim π

Thanks Dexy5, I did especially push myself this morning on the last 5K which were mainly up hill, a little walking too, not much, I will claim my new HM badge as soon as possible, after I got home, the end of the run was where I began, only a 3 minutes walk from where I live I got stuck into a chocolate ice cream swirl, yummy π
Massive congratulations on your first HM Al π₯³π₯³π₯³ This will certainly be one run you will never forget and a fantastic tribute to Tim. Hope you are having a lovely relaxing afternoon!
What a beautiful post and absolutely fitting tribute Alan.
Thanks, it was a nice tribute to Tim, the longest run I have ever ran ππΎ although I did walk/run a little a half marathon in March last year
Great job Al! πͺπππββοΈπ β
I think once we get the bit between our teeth we can get stuff done β π
Our focus today was on remembering our friend and mentor Tim, so Iβd like to think he helped us along on our journeys. As we recalled our friendβs kind words and tips we just quietly chewed up the miles ππββοΈπββοΈ
Recover well Al! Eat, sleep, hydrate π
Wow! What an achievement in honour of our friend!
Well done Almorr you did brilliantly x
A moving post AlMorr. A HM in Tim's honour is brilliant. I hope you could manage a smile along the way, and must surely be smiling now.πCongratulations on your acheivement.
πββοΈπxxx
I'd say Tim would be very pleased with the slightly slower pace. You did him proud π
Fantastic achievement Al - a perfect tribute! π
thatβs wonderful Al! Super well done! I see youβve got your half marathon badge! So well deserved! π
Well done Al. Tim would be proud of that run in his memory.
Thanks John, I hope he would have been proud of me on my run this morning I was thinking of Tim and his famous words "keep running, keep smiling" I remember him replying to me when I ran, run 3 of week 5 of C25K, he congratulated me by saying that "a 20 minutes run lasts 20 minutes" I replied by saying that's 1200 seconds.
Congratulations Al on your longest run and first half marathon. It's a wonderful tribute run for Tim too πππ
I'm hardly ever on here now, so I missed this. Massive well done. You beat me on time too. My dodgy knee ballooning from around 13k slowed me right down for my HM. You've done brilliantly. Also, I didn't know about Tim. What a loss to the running world
Thank you very much for your post
Thank you very much for your post FlickM, we were all very saddened by the news of Tim passing, I remember you running that Half Marathon in I think early 2020 before lockdown.I had also to slowdown during my HM on Sunday as my legs threatened to lock and stop me running altogether, that didn't happen when I ran 20.59K 3 weeks ago, hence my slower time on Sunday, apart from that my run was fine. I hope you are keeping well and still enjoying your running.
I donβt know how I missed this post Alan, except I feel a bit of an interloper here on the marathon forum! Huge congratulations on your HM and for making it your Timβs Run as well, it was a lovely tribute to him. Well done you!
Thank you very much Oldgirlruns, I was originally thinking of running a HM between Christmas and New Year but I brought it forward to November and decided to run it in memory of Tim.
